Also, what's with these giant boxes weighing nothing and only pictures or the 3d models?

No pics of the actual models or any information. Just seems lazy

Yeah I hate this too. I've been buying their figures until they started this. But at the same time you seen to have some weird issues with plastic figures I don't have.

Occasionally they'll include instructions inside because they're so monstrously hard to assemble...

The only upside to the new plastics for me is that some models which have ugly minis at the moment may (that's may) get a nicer re-sculpt. I also majorly dislike the lack of finished model pics. It seems pretty small but there's something weird about just having concept art and a load of actions printed on a stat card, makes it seem much more disconnected from the game. Plus, it's not much help as a painting reference.

@ kidterminal - Some of the new plastics just look cool and there's no two ways about it, but there's a lot of gravity defying clothing which doesn't match the style of the old models at all and the occasional vector mis-sculpt I find highly annoying.

I'm not a fan of "gravity defying clothing" either. I was referring to his dislike of using plastic as a material for miniatures in general.

I clean all my minis of all their mold lines, imperfections, etc..
Doing so in plastic seems like its easier, but I can't stand the static cling that always occurs. Those little bits stick to the model, your tools, your fingers and it's a serious pain. It also constantly interferes with seeing if the area is cleaned or not. Plus, it's really easy to overclean the area and create a nasty finish.

Then when you start dealing with super thin or delicate parts, you have to take extra care not to deform it, etc..

I just can't stand working with plastic figureines. It's great on larger minis, but not 28mm. If I didn't care about mold lines, I wouldn't mind plastic.

@Steamage,
if your wife digs the game and you guys have fun with it, grand.

I would wait until the new rules are settled before buying in to Malifaux.

Use a damp paper towel that's the key to keeping thing clean. :)

We intend to buy a starter box each (and some extra minis we find pretty) and then use the open beta rules until the final version is released. Is there any particuklar reason why you'd recommend to wait, besides not buying the 1st edition rulebooks as the new ones will soon be released?

As for the plastic vs metal debate - I prefer metal if given the choice, but I fear that may become unrealistic in a few decades as the prices keep going up and up.

Well that's a neat trick. I will try it sometime when it's absolutely necessary. Otherwise, I like working with metal just fine.
Hitting them with a brass brush and files is fast and easy.

Pinning is a lot easier with plastic I admit.

I use the damp paper towel on metal shavings too. I Don't want that all over the place either.

I have enjoyed Malifaux quite a bit. I like the card mechanics instead of praying to dice gods all the time and the models are nice other then glueing that is. This is my game groups start with skirmish type games and I'm hoping ill have success with Infinity in my group for the same reasons. Everyone took to Malifaux pretty easy so I'm feeling positive. I didn't realize 2nd ed beta rules were available ill look into that thanks.
