Next purchase

by wrinklestiltskin » March 23rd, 2016, 12:19 pm

Hey guys,

I want to pick your brains a little.
I have the PanO part of operation Icestorm; I bought it together with a croc woman hacker and a guarda de assalto. I'm browsing a bit for my next purchase.

At this point I'm thinking about buying either the auxilia box, that would give me 300 points to play with. Another option I'm contemplating is buying the NeoCapitaline starter box. Aquila, swiss and hexas give me some elite options to play around with. And I like the idea of bolts as a lieutenant option or the dropbear version as an aro piece. I'm an infinity noob, so maybe I'm talking non-sense, please tell me if I am. :)

I've thought about buying one of the TAG's or the icestorm expansion set, but I don't think I want to go for the big miniatures yet. Theme wise I want to stick with vanilla PanO not to limit myself to a certain playstyle or to certain miniatures.

So any other options that would make sense, for a noob or building up to ITS or whatever?
Thanks!

Those are all quite good ideas. Auxila box would give you a very versatile addition to your army: The can serve as a Lieutenant, a specialist (Forward Observer) or simply a flamethrower wielding murder-machine.

I started with the Icestorm Box as well, and my second purchase was the NTC Starter box so that'd be my vote.

Other good and universal ideas would be:
- Support Pack (Doc, Engineer & 2 helper bots) though given PanO's WIP it might be less advisable than with other factions,
- any of the REMs, especially the Dronbot Pack. You do have a hacker already, who is a prerequisite to fielding REMs, though I admit a Crocman (Assault Hacker if memory serves me) isn't one capable of buffing REMs. But I'm pretty sure you'll love the Sierra Dronbot, and the sensor-bot, Pathfinder, is going to be pretty useful, too. If not, a Fugazi or two for cheap Orders (and Repeaters).
They say there will be Heaven and the Fount of Kausar,
That there, there will be pure wine and honey and sugar
Fill up the wine cup and place it in my hand
(For) ready cash is better than a thousand credits.

- Rubayyat of Omar Khayyam, but it is a shoddy translation :(

Thanks guys.

Lol, 3 answers and each is different. :D I hadn't considered REMs, they hadn't registered on my list of cool stuff yet.... But they are cool though. What do you use for fugazi?

My responses go through the admins still, so I'm a bit slow to answer. ;)
I'll have a look at the drones, I didn't consider them yet.

I think the auxilia box combined with the dronbot box would be good purchases.

I guess you can model the clipper without the missile launcher to give you the fugazi dronbot.
That way I get the sierra and the fugazi to add to my list, plus some cheap auxillia. That's a pretty good core of models.

That's what I do. ^^

I have one dronbot made up as the 360* TR HMG bot.
The other has magnets for a smart missile pod and sensor widget thing. If I leave the bits off, it can be option #4 (fugazi).
(the magnets were all 3mmx1mm neos. The parts are small enough to not need more than that.)

Another vote for the remote box - that Pathfinder is one of the best specialists available for PanO, and the others all have their uses as well.

Thanks guys.

The N3 human sphere videos on Beasts of War have really peaked my interest towards REMs. Interested to add a mulebot with EVO as well.
