200 Points Bakunin Rush

While pondering if i shouldn't rather begin with a 200 points army instead of 300 points i came up with this idea for a small 200 points Bakunin list where the focus lies on a quick advance with some backline support from the R. Moira fireteam.

I think maybe it would be a better idea to replace the Lunokhod and the hacker with a normal R. Moira (with M.Sniper or Launcher) and a second Überfallkommando, but i do adore these crazy coala models.
Any comments are welcome.

Lunokhod is a great unit. I love them in my Corregidor.
However, the list has only 5 Regular orders. That's hardly enough... I don't say "it is crap", I say - playtest it (with proxies...or just empty bases and pieces of paper ) and see it yourself.

I see you're fascinated with the Observance, but I think it would mkae sense to go for cheaper units as the bulk of your force in a 200pts list.

I agree with Erhille, you should of course playtest your ideas, but generally it's best to try and have at least 8 regular orders when you have only 1 combat group.

In such a small-scale game a solo HMG model will be nearly as effective as a linked one, so you might consider using a cheaper defensive link with a sniper instead.

A few ideas below: Keeping most of the important units in your list (Moira, lunokhod, chimera) while adding more regular orders.

I have to say that your list Darek looks pretty nice and i can also understand the point of the orders and the need of cheap troops...only problems i have are that i already bought a R. Healer (impulsive choice and likely the best to keep her outside my army for now) and that if i buy the Bakunin Sectorial Starter Pack and the Moderators Duo, i would have two identical models (wich i don't like too much anyways from the appearance but building an army from the good looking models doesn't work)

I get your point, you want to field a certain model because you like it, don't want any doubles, etc. So which models do you really want to use? Rev healer, what else?

The Rev Healer and at least one Rev Custodier and one Rev Moira, i do love the Reverend models, though i realize that an army of these troops is too expensive in points. Also the Überfallkommando, so in this term the army you proposed does work quite well, with the Healer as an exception, but i guess for her to be really effective i do need more Revs that she can link onto, meaning i should keep her on reserve until i buy a larger army.

As for converting a model, in theory it is an idea but i hardly converted plastic models so far and i would guess with a metal model it is even more complicated. So as for the moderators i think i would pay the bit of extra money and get the two specialized models (Spitfire and MultiSniper) additional to the bakunin starter army instead of the two model moderator pack.

But I can't shake the feeling that those very expensive healer and custodier models are a bit out of place here and there's little justification for them. Still: You have a good HMG, decent sniper with small link support (+1 Burst), the healer who is a specialist and quite good fighter (although slow), zero hacker and the uberfallkommando. The hacker lieutenant is just a cherry on top that allows you to use the nice model.

The custodier is the cherry but with the HD+ it does allow for some interesting hacking capabilities like Cybermask.
So it's just the Rev Healer but with the boxes i buy i could replace her with a Sin Eater (HMG or MultiSniper) and another morlock without extra costs, or maybe (with the Sin Eater as sniper) go further and then replace the Moderator (Sniper) with a Moderator (LGL) and a fourth morlock. Wich would result in 7 normal orders aswell as 5 irregular orders on 15 models. Or would it result in a problem as i would then need to field them in two groups? As i admit i haven't looked into that part of the rules yet. I would just put the Überfallkommando and the Morlocks in the second group as they use irregular orders and keep the others in the first group.

Yes i do have too much SWC in it but i guess i wouldn't use them all in one round anyway and wich SWs i will use on wich unit in the end will have to be seen after seeing the army in action multiple times, same goes for the distribution of the units into the two combat groups.

Small tweaks - I think this would work better (and it's legal).

Change your HMG Sin-Eater for a Spitfire or Sniper - depends on whether you want burst or damage. Alternatively, even the Mk12 is a good option.

You've not got a B5 Spitfire in a small moderator link which has greatly increased your firepower and order efficiency.

An AHD on the Zero isn't giving you much more, whereas a deployable repeater to use your HD+ through -is-. Also, E/Maulers are brilliant and should not be underestimated - between that and the repeater you have fantastic area denial to threaten any HI or REMs you may be facing.

Packing morlocks into order group 1 also increases your options to rambo them if you get the chance, using your regular orders.

Ahh, thanks Alex for the tips on the weapon choices, i currently try to look through them and compare their stats so i know when which weapon would be more efficient, guess i go for Spitfire on my Sin-Eater then as i might not be able to really use the Sniper's range due to playing on a small table.

As for why i put all four Morlocks into group 2: i thought that way i could make use of the ability to link them together to a strike-team, but i guess for rushing CC units that might not be too efficient, or at least less efficient as the chance to give them up to 7 extra orders to bring them right into the enemy's face.

If you stay legal, you have 3 choices: MSR, Spitfire, or Mk12.

The Mk12 offers you more damage, lower burst than the spitfire. It has a decent set of range bands but, like the spitfire is not good when used offensively by a Sin-Eater as he is limited to B1 in the active turn. You can view it as the 'budget price' option but it's actually a really good weapon.

The Spitfire sacrifices damage for high burst mid-range firepower. On a small board it is a versatile defensive weapon but it's not up to much in a sin-eaters hands during the active turn.

The MSR offers you control over every edge of the table, and you only halve the burst in an active turn to 1. This means you can use it offensively - shoot at range with the Sin-Eater's high BS at B1 using DA ammo. His mimetism and armour with the use of cover should keep him going and you will be threatening two armour saves for every hit at damage 15.


As for the Morlocks... you can't combine their orders in the impetuous phase. Putting them in group 1 lets you use regular orders for them - or if you are desperate, convert their orders to regular and use them for other people. Leaving them in their own group limits your flexibility.

Mk12 SinEater is, first of all, a budget option: no SWC cost. With Spitfires and MSRs taking you back 1,5 SWC each, this starts to accumulate real quick.
Sure, it has no Burst or Range of a HMG, but for a budget choice, it ain't bad (and I speak it from my experience on the business end of a SinEater!).

Personally, I consider the MSR SinEater a waste of points - his strength lies in obscenely high reactive Burst, and MSR doesn't have much of that, so I found him vulnerable to being riddled with bullets from a high-Burst weapon.
Not so easy with a Burst 3 or Burst 4 SinEater!

Oh lol, i must have accidentialy skipped the Neurocinetics of the Sin-Eater, the fact that he uses the burst in the reactive turn instead of the active one sounds indeed like a powerful tool if used well and speaks against a MSR in my opinion. So i will likely go for the Spitfire option. The Costs getting free through that might be used to give those Morlocks in group 1 an assault pistol instead of the standard pistol for more burst against single targets. Sure the Spitfire is not as effective in the active turn but there i rather see myself using my more offensive troops while the Sin-Eater will be used to protect my backline/Lt. or a mission objective.

Is it illegal (in terms of ITS) to have more SWC in the army as is limited? I just assumed you wouldn't be able to use all those weapons in the same turn in that case, but you clearly make it sound like it is simply against the rules, wich i don't want to do.

House rules are house rules, but for ITS you can only have 1 SWC per 50 points (or part thereof) in your army list.

Keep in mind that if you go over the allowed SWC in the Army 5 (the official army builder) the list will be makred as illegal. Just as if you've exceeded points worth of the army.
However, there are some characters that allow you increased SWC (in case of Bakunin, IIRC Reverend Superior Kusanagi, if made a Lt, grants +1 SWC allowance). Army 5 will be taking it into account if you enlist her for the role.

What I really like about Army 5 - it will notify you if the list assembled is not legal

Indeed, i just got confused by it as i still had it set as a 300 points list and thus Army 5 obviously thought all is good with my list
