We've found a bit of time between packing and cutting to post something here.

I hope they will find a way to the store soon...

Hey why not if I have a bit of time on my hands.
Now I have been asked by a certain person to maybe support a little tournament over the pond in a mysterious land called Texas and was wondering if you can tell me more of it.

Thanks! No rush or anything, of course!

Which tournament might that be?

I suppose it's likely the RUMBLE ON ROUTE 66! since the BATTLE FOR THE BAYOU! is this coming weekend.

Rumble is an amazing event! It was one of the first real big MAJOR tournaments held in the US that consisted of several different states/cities sending large groups of people to a single city. That single city also, originally, had little to no Infinity presence. It now has more members than my local meta. :')

There's a lot of fun had as we have free play (with BYOB!) the night before and on the day of. Last year, the attendance was something like 40 people. I expect this year to be even bigger. There was a fair amount of prize support last year from all over: West, Central, Eastern US regions, both South and East England, and even Spain, I think. I had grabbed some Warmill terrain last year as my prize (and I was only 10th place!).

It's run, in concerted effort, by Dan 'Crushar' Barnaby and Joe 'Enduro' Hill. Both amazing people who have done wonders for the Infinity community. Dan did/does a lot to sustain his New Mexico meta. Joe is one of the hosts of The Krug podcast and frequently helps out his local Colorado meta. Joe also makes celebrity trips down to Texas on occasion, such as hosting the Big D Cup up in the Dallas area (Plano, to be exact).

But if it's Texas you're wondering about... Well... I drive for 10 hours in one direction and don't leave the state to reach the Rumble on Route 66. That tells you a little something of the size. We have 2 seasons: Hot and Less Hot. Plants aren't green here, so much as a sickish brown color. Mostly a conservative state, though the people are generally quite friendly. I live in a small college town that plays host to Texas A&M University (which is one of the biggest Uni's in the state and nation). Would you like to know more?

Wow.

You get +1 on your 'wall of text' skill put it in your character sheet.

Good read though, yes it is the 'rumble on route 66' tourney, sounds cool from what you are saying.

Oh... Those look fun!

Just some suggestion: I like the current ones, but perhaps have some of the designs not centered? Gives relatively simple variation and breaks up the "monotony".

Glad I could be of help with the information. I've noted the skill increase and plan on exercising my new found power.

EDIT: Also, cool to have that new thickness!

I assume that these exist for 25mm, 40mm, and 55mm?

These base toppers look fabulous, but if they are to be of single thickness, I'd say the thinner, the better. You have to attach a model to the base underneath the topper somehow...

We are in the middle of designing the objective markers - there will be 3 different types sold in packs of 9 (3 of each design). First off we have intel crates and the next...do we need more consoles?

Could use some objective scenery pieces that are:
- on a 40mm base
- big enough to provide cover for models that are in base contact.
- optional: big enough to block LoS through it for Silhouette 2 sized troops.
- it should be relatively cheap, so filling lots of tables with many objective markers won't hurt a tournament organisers budget
- it should be sturdy, so it can withstand transport when thrown in a box

I'd strongly suggest analysing the missions in the N3 Rulebook (as well as the ITS 2014 and Paradiso misions) for what type of objectives could be needed. Definitely computer consoles will be needed.

I'm not sold on the open/close Crates. Sure, it is cool to have moving parts, but will the still move once I paint them? Also, MDF doesn't seem to be terribly resistant to wear and tear - sollid pieces like te most of ZT range should be perfectly fine, but tiny lil' opening crates I'd espect to wear don on their hinges...

Apart from that, Icchan makes several valid points.

Also, packing everything in a big bundle is, IMO, not a terribly good idea. See, I have a number of reisin Objective Markers of various types form MAS. Let's say I'm missing Crates. There are beautiful (but expensive) reisin Crates on MAS offer, and there are just as beautiful crates on Zen Terrain offer. Zen Terrain stuff is very reasonably priced, however, to get my crates I'd have to buy a whole tournament bundle - generating expenses and leaving me with a whole lot of extra objectives...

Nonsense, you can never have enough crates. They're the exploding barrels of tabletop gaming.

As far as I now they are painted up at the moment but I would expect most of the new stuff coming to the store beginning of February as this month is batshit crazy with the orders.

Valid points all around - I wanted to avoid consoles just because I do not like copying other designs readily available on the market - to be fair the only restriction in the rulebook is the size of the objective marker (mainly probably 55mm and 40mm bases). Now you can have something else that is also hackable and is not a boring console - same size as those said objectives.

As for the movable parts, hey you can glue them shut if you want to, but the option is still there.

I agree, I think we have enough variance with consoles right now. But they should be something ubiquituous so that a hacker or an engineer could realistically interact with them and inherantly know what he's doing. Since the other specialist types get a -3 WIP penalty in some scenarios.
So I'm thinking a massive server rack for example. They're mostly large box shapes with intricate details. Pain to make dozens of by scratchbuilding, but should be quite cheap for mass producing.

Well, let's drink to that! :)

On topic of the objectives - panoplies could be made in the form of weapon lockers / strongboxes with appropriate text & graphic engraved on the door - this way you'd be able to keep to your favourite technique of laser-cut MDF (I'm afraid that making actual weapons racks would be difficult without getting into resin cast). Actually I can see no reason why those couldn't double as Crates!
And there doesn't seem to be many waepon locker props that would fit Infinity, I suppose...

@ Icchan: Saddly so do I - you may not have to paint papercraft but with an Airbrush most MDF can be done up real quick and it's a wee bit more solid.

My experience with a few papercraft products have been good but the lessons learned has always been it's pretty tedious and just as exspensive when you print on the right cardstock at home. I like it but I use it more for RPG's than wargaming.
