Tallon's Attack Corgies

by TallonHunteR » December 18th, 2013, 2:16 am

ok, so i had my first game with my corgies, and they went up against a tohaa force. we played YAMS. i set up the terrain to allow control of either end of the board with a sniper, but not more, buildings( and thus firelanes) were on a diagonal to the DZs

BURN BABY! BURN! Disco Inferno

my objectives:
Secure Civilian
Secure Forward Operating base
Map Enemy DZ
Advance

my opponent won initiative and took deployment. setting up in a building on the(my) right hand side of his deployment zone, his gorgos to the left, and a link triad of kamael(i think) in the center. i set up tag to the right, hmg intruder on the left, LT intruder on the right, and wildcats in the center.

TAC:
Wildcats moved through the the central building holing up just inside, boarding shotgun got popped by viral and died. Iguana moved to the corner of the same building, controlling advance up the fire field on the right flank (enemies control).

Tohaa:
the guys on the right stay hunkered down in their sniper post, controlling the fire lane and popping the civvie. the kamael move through the building on the left of the central building to try to discover the crate. they move within 8" of the WC link leader (HRL) who opens the door he's behind. there they will remain for the remainder of the game. doing nothing. gorgos moves to suppress (through the building none the less) the door of the kamael building on my side of said building.

TAC: Move Iggy around to the right twice, snipers drop prone to the attack and the gorgos ends suppressing fire as it's in LOS to my iguana. I move WC link team leader up midway through the street, realize i can shoot the gorgos through the windows now and fire 3 shots, one hits and is saved. fire another 3, critting on one and hitting with another(bye bye gorgos), i move to cover from the hunkered snipers with the remainder of that order. bring the tomcat in on the right, right near the center of the table. move toward the sniper nest, incurring some wrath from the kamael as i pass the angle at which they can fire at me. reach the building, run up the side(climbing plus FTW) and LFT through the window with my last order, catching the three units in there.

Tohaa: opponent concedes and is possibly going to sell his tohaa T_T

the moral is, play nice kiddies, or you'll have no one left to play with.

Had anyone sync'd the Civilian yet? Otherwise you can't make ranged attacks, as far as I remember.

Was this his first game? If so, you sure didn't pull any punches with a Wildcat Link, a TAG, and an Intruder HMG. Eeesh. :( Not trying to sound all judgemental and stuff, just a wince; my first game of Warmachine I got completely tabled by a pDenny cheese list and it really put me off the game for a while.

Oh, well in that case it just seems like a case of poor attitude. I've always found that you only really lose if you didn't have fun and didn't learn from it. Sorry you probably lost a player.
