Impudent Mortal's Sci-Fi Terrain Kickstarter

by Taylor » October 17th, 2013, 4:40 am

Hey Guys,
A friend of mine has created this terrain with infinity in mind (I helped him develop it), and I had noticed he hadn't posted here yet - so I thought I'd jump the gun and post, because it's an amazing set. I own quite a bit of this stuff now, and it's pretty epic. His use of acrylic is phenomenal - as well as his creative use of space in some of the large buildings. Check it out and let us know what you think.

When I'm done painting mine, I'll post it. :)

I have a shit ton of Walt's stuff. It is as good as it looks, and his use of acrylic is amazing. For $325, you can't get any better. Also, there are some pretty sweet infinity stretch goals being developed that you'll want to keep an eye on.

When I get all of of this terrain painted, I'll do a plog on it. :D

Also, just on a side note - he will send you your stuff on time. I know a lot of kickstarters get delayed (I I still haven't received received the second part of my sedition wars yet..) - this won't be one of them.

Damn, that Impudent Mortals KS looks really good. I don't want all the goodies, but I could easily drop $220 on that for all the buildings. A city doesn't look right if you source all your buildings from the same kit.

I couldn't agree more. That being said, the barricades and walls are great. Also, the objective room is stunning on the table.

A friend of mine had an idea of making a Lego minifig wargame a few months ago. Apparently his idea was stolen.

There are a few Lego rulesets floating around. I think there's Brickwars and some 15mm style mecha one I can't remember the name of; I'll have to check my RPG PDF folder when I get home.

Accidentally posted this in the wrong thread.

I found a game that I'm going to buy as soon as possible: Spider Monkey Games' "Terminus Gate." It has some really cool models (the Core World faction looks like great Nomad stand-ins), and the game itself is kinda like Necromunda or Mordheim. You're in command of a 'small packet freighter', always in search of that next job.

Terminus Gate is a gritty, brutal miniatures game pitting rival privateer crews against each other as they attempt to fulfill their contracts. You are the captain of a space-faring privateer crew, contracting your services where you can in the vast outer systems. Armed with some fresh recruits, you will ply your trade across the stars, picking up contracts ranging from planetary exploration to deep space salvage, policing actions to hit-and-run raids. As they survive each job, your crewmen will gain experience, granting them new abilities and opportunities to develop in their professions.

In the depths of space, opportunities and dangers abound. Dark and terrible enemies poise ready to foil your crew at every turn. Life as a privateer is a dangerous affair with injuries and even death awaiting your crew as they quest for fame and fortune amongst the stars.

I'm hoping that the missions will be nicely transferable to Infinity.

This will be a Kickstarter, soon(ish), and I will post more information as it comes available.

But you don't (from what I've seen) usually have the terrain density in Infinity that a full 4x4 battle systems table (Stronghold x4) would offer. You might well have more than enough scenery from the 2x2 set (Stronghold) for your needs, and that would cost about $140 (including shipping). You could then add more floor tile packs (2x2 is $41) without paying more shipping - or not - simply drop the terrain on the tables you already use and allow it to compliment the other terrain you have perhaps, using the BattleSystems stuff as specific sector of your table.

Or just be a cheaparse and print your own floor tiles.

Heh, the usual comment about Infinity terrain is "needs more terrain." Strongholdx4 with all the trimmings would make it Chain Rifle Rampage Land.

Yeah, that's been my problem with trying to design a modular city. The blocks where it looks most like Tokyo would be Chain Rifle Rampages, and the streets make it a sniper's heaven.

And I still want a good 12" of vertical movement possible on the table (4-5 story buildings)

We are looking at the 28mm version of the dropzone boards to provide a base for our infinity battles. The Anime boards are just a little to busy for me.

Ah, y'all beat me to it.

I'd be willing to consider a couple boards (Anime and Hawk), but I need someone to hire me, damn it!

Welp, 24 hours to go and had to drop the Impudent Mortal Kickstarter cause stupid surprise bills. :suicide:

On the positive side, it'll balance out with my next paycheck, chock full of overtime, and a quarterly bonus... so that might mean I can get the table board. So yay for that. I guess.

A stretch goal is destructible terrain, and that big cannon would definitely be a great center piece for a "Silence the Gun" style objective. Also, Schlok Mercenary minis are one of the rewards.
