So it ended up being a little later than 'today', but now we're pleased to announce the new stuff is actually available to buy! Blame a forgotten visit from 5(!) family members for the delay (apparently hiding away in my workshop can be considered anti-social! :P). The Surgery Shack, Waste-ation and SatLink are now online in sweaty, heaving purchaseable glory, complete with a 1-week-only 10% discount and new lower postage for all you rest-of-the-world folks.

Image

Next to be released will be the HOBOX homeless capsule shelter, SIR pallet stackable crates (from waaaaay back when we were sorting out the MOD.CO.N range!) and possibly even the tokens and templates I drew up last year. Since all these products just need photographing, this might actually happen sooner rather than later.

Ed's current project is painting a metric shedload of MULE bits ready for release, because telling people they're 'coming soon' has started getting a bit embarrassing! The plan is to have these for sale at Colours in September, and right now it looks like that might actually happen!*

Man, I love the Surgery Shack, and the SatCom terminal is excellent.

Poor old Ed, he's been rushing to get it painted before he goes to Bestival tomorrow!

Price wise, that setup there is 4 cores, 6 habs, an office, 3 tunnels, a helipad and an optional roof topper and you're looking at a ballpark figure of £220-ish, it's important to note the habs and office include a ring of walkway around 3 sides as well. That amount will cover an area of approximately 2 dogs x 2 dogs or more depending on how you set it up.

Well I don't think I need this many rooms.

Will you do bundles like with the ELMOR or will the MULE be sold part by part.

Although I could imagine buying a smaller bundle with let's say 2 cores, 3 habs, 2 tunnels and an office. That would be something around 100 pound, right? ^^

Ed did a great job by the way.... as always!

I've got individual prices for the parts but haven't worked out the exact bundles yet (yay spreadsheets!), so... maybe? :D Strangely enough, the last game I played (a shockingly long time ago) featured a setup of 2 cores, 3 habs, 1 tunnel and an office. The game was on a 6x4 table and the MULE setup took up a considerable chunk of the board. You can also see some of the walkways in this pic.

Do the core section come with any balcony sections, or would I need to make those myself? I'm thinking about using a couple stacks of core sections just to put a different building shape on the table.

The core sections come with angled pieces so that when habs are attached the walkway is continuous between them, but the tunnels and skimmerpads come with pieces that can fill in for walkway on the door planes.

We'll be at Colours at Newbury Racecourse this weekend (I thought it was next weekend! ) with a limited amount of the complete MULE range for sale, and some other bits and bobs that have been lying around unreleased for ages, including the HOBOX and Ed's skips, so come along and bring yer wallets!

Re: The Warmill Thread

I managed to play a game this week for the first time in about 2 months! I took the painted MULEs (sorry Ed ;)) and they worked perfectly, the interplay between the models outside and inside the buildings was great, highlights included the battle for the office building featuring mines, engineers defusing mines and a fireproof shaolin monk, and Musashi dodging bullets and missiles as he ran down a tunnel to slice up a Djanbazan.

We were playing a quickly thrown together scenario that worked pretty well, basically featuring a squad of elites butchering their way through hordes of grunts as they tried to rescue a civvy and get him to a helipad. The attackers got off to a good start, but gradually got worn down until all the heavy hitters went down leaving them unable to evac the civvy. If we get to play it again I'll do a proper battle report.

Image

The facility where the civvy is held. The civilian was in a random core unit, and the plucky defenders could respawn in any of the habs, unless an attacker could break in and clear it.

Image

Naffatuns make great bouncers. These chaps' names were not on the list, so they didn't come in.

Image

The battle for the office. The muyib and ghulams did managed to hold off the Yu Jing attackers.

Image

The Yu Jing heavy hitters begin heading in to the facility.

Image

This ended the way you'd expect.

Image

The facility.

Image

Yu Jing deployment. Most of the troops were in and around the building near the road.

Cheers, it should do after the number of times it got redesigned! They worked really well in the game, the Muyib in the office was well defended with mines and cover, but got shot in the back through the window by a crane rank with spitfire and the djanabazan giving him surpressive fire was at risk from the shaolin sneaking through via the core. Because there was never a completely protected position, the interiors got as much play as the exterior which was something we've really tried hard to encourage. Nothing worse than a perfect sniper nest or walls of surpressive fire ending a game before it's started.

The plan is to get photos done next weekend for the boxart, then get 'em released as soon as possible.

So about 2 weeks ago I placed an order through Warmill for:
Surgery Shack
Happy Noodle
Waste Station
Body Chop Shop

I'm in the USA, so I knew there would be increased shipping time, but I am amazed at how fast the buildings arrived. They look fantastic, and I can't wait to get them all assembled and painted up.

Shipping to the US is a funny thing, I've sent 2 parcels to the same address and had them show up 2 weeks apart!

Post some pics when you've got it done, we like seeing what other people do with this stuff :D

Once I've got some stuff finished I will, but I've got stuff from Warmill, Warsenal, Underground Lasers, Shark-Mounted Lasers, and Advanced Deployment all waiting to be assembled and painted.

I had a great time, Mules worked really well, such that I realised they could encourage different tactics. There is a real mix of full and partial cover from different angles and I think using cautious movement as well as going prone and crawling would be really viable tactics to get around safely. Not something I usually do (which might say a bit about my tactical ability!!)

by Picken » October 10th, 2013, 11:36 pm

hey all! just wanted to share the setup of the ELMOR Skylevel set i recently built and payed on today. i bought in at the RPC in cologne a few months ago, but unfortunately didnt have time to build abd play on it properly. now i had the time and it adds excellent possibilities to the board. i just love the 3dimensionality and the firelanes rising from this 3d board. too long firelanes are interrupted with relative ease by using scatter terrain as the cars, but the heavoer wepons like snipers and HMGs began more to shine that before on our [admittedly too crowded] usual tables. here some photos:

Image
Image
Image

of course, there has to be done much work, including destroying the street system at the bottom ends a bit, to let it grow into the slum theme., i will be dirtenig it, adding garbage and some other stuff like corrugated metal sheets and plastic planes, to fit the general theme, such as i have to do it with the rest of the terrain. and as soon as i will add some high trees and plants to my collection, i will be able to play with more low vis zones than that burning tires on the street and holoboards :3.
