Starting with… Combined Army

List #4: ITS!
Now we get to the ITS list. This means we’ll focus on grabbing objectives as well as looking for ways to kill enemy units. You’ll need to find a balance between these two, that works with your own playstyle. You can use this list for your first games as well, playing through the missions in the N3 rulebook. Or make up your own and run what you like best! 😉 These are just examples for you to get an idea of list-building in Infinity.
The List:
- Fraacta Drop Unit (Combi Rifle, Hacker)
- Umbra Legates (K1 Combi Rifle)
- Maakrep Trackers (Mult Sniper Rifle)
- Shasvastii Cadmus (Boarding Shotgun)
- Shasvastii Gwailos (Hacker)
- Kurgat Engineer (Mk12)
- Shasvastii Noctifier (Spitfire)
- Unidron Batroid (Plasma Carbine)
- Unidron Batroids (Plasma Carbine, Forward Observer)
- Unidron Batroids (Spitfire)
- Unidron Batroids (K1 Tinbot)
- M-Drone (Combi Rifle, Forward Observer)

- Imetron

A dual combat group list. This means you’ll have to split your units along those two. You can look for yourself which units you want where. For example, if you think your sniper Maakrep won’t use up a lot of orders, put him in the small order group. If you’re going to use some others for lots of purposes, fit him in a large group. A lot of Remotes again, but well. They work! Especially those Unidrons with their fearsome weapons.
There are 6 Specialists in this list, so you have enough to grab objectives.
The Cadmus is a nasty unit. It can drop during deployment, anywhere on the table, as an embryo that looks like a mine. But you can hatch their embryos, and out comes a terrifying unit; his morpho-scan means he can take the profile of other units that are in its Zone of Control. So, if your enemy is running a fearsome unit, morpho-scan it, and take over his MOV, CC, BS and PH attributes. Equipped with a Boarding Shotgun it can then easily kill the unit he took over. +6BS within 8 inch. Auch!
The Noctifier is another terror. Equipped with Thermo-Optic Camouflage it can hide itself until you decide to show it. It can then take his spitfire to your enemy units, attacking from the back or another surprise angle. The Dogged rule makes sure the unit can go on like after a lucky ARO, killing another dude before dying himself. Certainly worth the points to take out some terror unit.
Both units have the Shasvastii rule, so they become Embryos if they die, and don’t count for the retreat threshold.
Two fearsome attackers and flankers that can drive some nasty surprise up your opponent’s unit’s you know what.
We’ve already seen the other units in the other lists! 😉
Recap
The Combined Army Starter is a great deal for any player wanting to go with the Combined Army. It’s a bit hard to fit in a 200 point list, mainly due to the cost of the Starter Set and the overall cost of the CA units. Still it is a good basic to work with as you can see. Keep in mind; we only stick to this starter for the article’s purposes. You go out and find your own preferences and which units you like the most! Infinity has infinite options, so don’t let these articles guide you too much!
Enjoy and Happy Gaming!
Great work, but, I found 2 errors in the article.
1. Maakrep has only Sixth Sence L1
2. Deflector from TinBot works for all same models in fireteam and Unidrons cannot be linked right now.
Oh, right.. I play Odas too much.. SSL2 is almost a standard combination in my typing. XD will fix it.
I thought tin bots were area of effect. Haven’t used them yet. Will have to look it up.
Thanks for the feedback!
List #3: Remotes
I think they lack a hacker, wich is (you mentioned it in the intro yourself) essential for a drone-army 😉
I think that Gwailo is hacker in that list and Scorch forgot to write it in the list.
Yep, what Melkhior said. The Gwailos is the hacker. I’ll add it 😛 Let’s hope ArmyV is up quick! Then I can just copy paste my lists instead of typing them all out myself! Errors tend to slip in. xD
Just use Aleph Toolbox v3….
I use Mayanet personally. 😛 I’m currently in the beta-test. Never been a fan of Aleph Toolbox, myself. Found it very difficult to use.
But it might be a good idea to throw it in. Will see if I can use it for the next episodes.
I used it as soon as it was able to generate Sectorial lists. You can see it in my works 🙂
Yeah, your lists looked much better indeed. 😉
Note that as the Unidron have G: Autotool, the requirement to take a hacker is waived if you have a model with G: Mnemonica in your list.
Great article! Although I’m waiting with baited breath for the EI/Ur sectorial 😀
