PanOceania in N3

PanOceania, not much news there. Yet! But they do have some existing units changed!

Hospitaller Knights

MOV 4-4, CC 21, BS 14, PH 14, WIP 13, ARM 4, BTS 6, W 2, S 2, AVA 1

Special Skills: MA L2, Religious Troop, Frenzy

Multi Rifle, Pistol, AP CCW, SWC 0, Cost 37

Multi Rifle, Pistol, DA CCW, SWC 0, Cost 38

HMG, Pistol, AP CCW, SWC 2, Cost 41

Boarding Shotgun, Pistol, AP CCW, SWC 0, Cost 33

Combi Rifle, Pistol, AP CCW, SWC 0, Cost 33

Doctor (MediKit), Multi Rifle, Pistol, AP CCW, SWC 0, Cost 41

Lt., Multi Rifle, Pistol, AP CCW, SWC 0, Cost 37

Lt., Multi Rifle, Pistol, DA CCW, SWC 0, Cost 38

Hospitallers are the only Knights leaked right now. And it a great example of how the HI side of the game is changing! Movement Boost, point reduction.. and as they are Knights; a big CC boost (16 to 21, +5!!!). The Hospitalers are the ‘standard’ Knight of PanOceania, and they just became 11 points cheaper as Multi Rifle and the HMG got 7 points reduction. Cheaper, more mobile and more lethal in Close Combat.

Joan of Arc

MOV4-4, CC23, BS15, PH15, WIP15, ARM5, BTS6, W2, S2, AVA1

Special Skills: Inspiring Leadership, MA3, Religious Troop, V:NWI

49/0 Multi Rifle, Nanopulser, Pistol, AP CCW

50/0 Multi Rifle, Nanopulser, Pistol, DA CCW

49/+1 (LT) Multi Rifle, Nanopulser, Pistol, AP CCW

50/+1 (LT) Multi Rifle, Nanopulser, Pistol, DA CCW

Joan of Arc, as a Knight gets the same stuff. CC-boost, movement boost (not really seeing use for the high-mobility form anymore, unless it’s much cheaper and you want to use the Inspiring Leadership ability), and a point reduction. Not much else to say on new Joan. She now has access to Double Action CCW.

The thing that does change is:

Inspiring Leadership

Requirements

– must be LT during army list creation

Effects

– As long as the user remains on the battlefield in a non-Null State, replace the Training (Regular/Irregular) of every other trooper in the Army with the User’s

– As long as the user of Inspiring Leadership is on the field in a non-Null State, all troopers under his command benefit from V:Courage

– You may declare a Coordinated Order that includes the user by spending the LT special Order only, without having to spend further expenditures of Command Tokens or Orders

– As long as the user is on the table in a non-Null State, his army will not be affected by Retreat!

On to the fabled Bolts!

Neoterra Bolts

MOV 4-2, CC 14, BS 13, PH 11, WIP 12, ARM 2, BTS 6, W 1, S 2, AVA 3

Special Skills: Bioimmunity, Veteran L1

Combi Rifle, Light Shotgun, Pistol, Knife, SWC 0, Cost 22

Combi Rifle, Light Shotgun, Drop Bears, Pistol, Knife, SWC 0, Cost 25

Boarding Shotgun, E/M Grenades, Pistol, Knife, SWC 0, Cost 19

Multi Sniper Rifle, Pistol, Knife, SWC 1.5, Cost 26

Missile Launcher, Light Shotgun, Pistol, Knife, SWC 1.5, Cost 27

Spitfire, Pistol, Knife, SWC 1.5, Cost 24

Hacking Device, Boarding Shotgun, E/M Grenades, Pistol, Knife, SWC 0.5, Cost 27

Paramedic, Combi Rifle, Light Shotgun, Pistol, Knife, SWC 0, Cost 24

Lt., Combi Rifle, Light Shotgun, Pistol, Knife, SWC 0, Cost 22

Bolts.. Bolts. They came in 2nd, and not many thought they were worth it. Now we see something else! Vet lv 1! That makes them usable even when you’re lost your LT and 75% of your army. Really nice for some aggressive NCA list.

BioImmunity, another extra to make them more survivable. They even have a cheaper hacker, which is another neat feat!

Also: Dropbears!

Drop Bears is the colloquial name used in the military for a thrown version of the Anti-Personnel Mine.

Modified version of a anti-personnel mine, two different uses: Throwing Weapon and a Deployable Weapon.

As a Throwing Weapon. A Drop Bear can be tossed or thrown, becoming a regular Anti-Personnel Mine when it touches the ground.

You do NOT need a target to throw a Drop Bear as a throwing weapon, simply point the desired location and make the corresponding Roll. Place a Mine Marker at the CONCLUSION of the Order, and becomes an Anti-Personnel Mine.

This means that a Drop Bear NEVER detonates during the same order which it is thrown in as a Throwing Weapon.

As a Deployable Weapon. Using this deployment option, Drop Bears are identical to Anti-Personnel Mines, with the single peculiarity that they are placed on the table as a Mine Marker, not as a Camo Marker.

Drop as a Throwing Weapon can never be an Intuitive Attack. They can’t be thrown if there is a Camo or TO Marker inside the Trigger Area, unless there is another valid target also within that area.

To make an Intuitive Attack you must use the Drop Bear as a Deployable Weapon.

Troopers carry THREE Drop Bears, and expend one of them each time they declare their use, either as a Throwing Weapon or a Deployable Weapon.

Sounds pretty amazing, especially for some nice PanO board control. Whether it’s worth the points or not, that’s up to us to decide.

  1. Lampyridae says:

MASSIVE cost decrease for the Bolts Missile Launcher (10 points cheaper!). You can bet that the Swiss Guard ML will also be way cheaper, along with stuff like 4-4MOV, Kinematika and other skills we’ve seen popping up for HI. Joan of Arc 2.0 will probably be cheaper and have access to Kinematika, possibly Assault to reflect her armour’s speed.

  2. Overall, pretty excited about the cost reductions. Pan Oceania HI is looking to be as sexy as some of the Yu Jing HI.

As for Bolts, I like them in N2 as a defensive Link, N3 appears to make them even more defensive/denial based wit BioImmunity now possibly being stronger, overall cheaper cost and Drop Bears. Just seems like a nice tarpit.
