Knight Piper's Underground Laser Review

by Knightpiper » June 30th, 2013, 2:31 am

Well then, I moved faster in these reviews then I thought I would. So next I present Underground Lasers and my review of their Radar tower, Shipping cubes, Long containers, Walkways, and Wide Container.

I will say this, I bought these products from the ebay store and was never apart of the kickstarter, so I do not care about that part as I had nothing to do with the kickstarter. I just want to review the products that I bought from the ebay store and leave it at that.

As always I start off with the Pictures:

Radar Tower dish with Cube: With windows taken out.

Shipping Cubes: With windows left in, I will do this for all the future products in this review

Stacked with the Sign I got with the order and next to my MAS holo boards for high comparsion

Next to the Crates for more comparison:

Walk ways:

A compound: The bridges click together onto the containers and cubes and everything stacks, making for a very modular system that can create different set ups every time.

So if you are not tired of looking at my many bad pictures lets get to the review, this will be a general review for everything.

Construction: The stuff came of the spruce very easily, in fact I never felt like was struggling with getting them off, like I do sometimes with MAS. The videos post on the facebook page help a lot, but I must say once you make one product you get the idea of how the rest go, so it is very intuitive. The windows can come out, for my buildings I chose to keep them in. Which meant putting some glue on the back to make sure they do not pop out which they do. But they where easy to make and where fast to make. So lots of props there. Also almost no glue is needed, some is needed for the roof guard rails and the door guards. But due to the construction, they are very sturdy just based off the design. Now for the window guards which are the little things that have the windows punched out and in front of the walls, they where a bit of a pain to get in for the cubes and the first long container. However by the second long container and the wide container I got hang of it, but the others had a little chipping where I had to force them in, but no worries to me. When making these things, once you hear the click of the joints coming in together you are good. The doors are little loose right now, but I think once I get some paint on them, that issue will go away.

Overall Look: In many ways they remind me of the PUPS from Warmill, cheap looking but strong and very good for a wilderness station or military post. When you add the walkways and the radar tower it adds only to that vibe. The window guards are neat and to me give the appearance of gun ports or reinforced windows for unfriendly wildlife.

Usability: Cost first for these guys, the seller is based in the US which is nice, everything is under $25 and you get little ammo crates with most of the orders. So that is a good mark for them. Next, as seen in the pictures, 25mm bases fit very well on everything, making it good for infinity and other games. The doors open and the roofs on the long and wide containers can be removed. Cover is going be from the products blocking LOS, but the flat roofs do mean that extra scatter terrain and bits will easy to place them and help with that. As for transport all look to be easy, but I will have to take care with the radar dish.

Overall score: 4 out 5, very close to being a 5 out of 5. But I want to see some new designs on the buildings before I would give it that. I really like these products and will look into buying more when he gets more stuff for sale. Pretty much I think if you want some good terrain that is not to expensive, you can not go wrong with these products.

Edited after the thread move for relevance

Thanks knight, glad you liked the stuff

Yes the doors close tight once you prime them, I'm still making adjustments to the buildings on Ebay from the feedback I am getting from reviews and I'm hopping the latest version will be the last because I amrunning out of time before release.

I will have some new buildings posted by next weekend. I got side tracked by a 285th scale building project for our local Battletech group.

No problem, I am glad people are reading them and finding them useful, as for the wrong forum, well I will blame late night typing for that, I thought I was in the reviews section. Out of all of the terrain I have bought so far, I really like theses, because of the good quality and because I get to support a small business that is based in the US.

radar comes with 1 cube for 12 bucks free shipping in the US, spend 100 dollars and is free shipping world wide.

Once the end of September comes and I can open my true online store then i'll be able to offer better discounts. still wrapped up with Kickstarter fulfillment at this time so quantities on Ebay are limited till then
