Well, they're captured fairly well the concepts this far in their sculpts (t.e. great kappa). When this is sculpted (in a couple of weeks, I'd guess), we'll see. I will probably take a starter set in a mean time. Skimmed over the rules and they seem to be a bit heavier than I expected (so many stats), but figures are lovely.

Robotech is a combination of Genesis Glimber MOSPEADA, The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, and various other Super Dimension Animes. It might have even included things from Fang of the Sun Dougram. It is similar to how Voltron and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were done.

The sad thing to me is the fact that Palladium isn't exactly known for their Quality. Ironically, that is why they got passed over for some other RPGs. Such as the Mobile Suit Gundam, Full Metal Panic, and Code Geass RPGs.

Ghosts of Hefei

by Section9 » April 25th, 2013, 5:02 am

I think this is the right place to post this...

Ghosts of Hefei is a gang warfare game, kinda like Necromunda, but without the horrible parent corp. There's another game by the same designer called 'The Department', where the players are acting as police officers in the same city. They both sound like excellent campaign idea sources for infinity, regardless of how the actual gameplay is. I say 'sound like' because I haven't had an opportunity to buy The Department yet, and Ghosts needs to be funded.

The games are set in Hefei, China, down in the bad parts of town. The Ghosts are trying to steal the robots, while the Department is trying to catch them (think Bladerunner).

They made some excellent theme signs for people to use, check this out!

There is a kickstarter thread in the Off Topic section at the very bottom, good sir ;)

That said - this looks pretty awesome. Some of the minis would make very nice civilians no doubt. I will have to check out their other game as well. Since it's Skrimish it may be a nice addition (not much painting work)and most of us have terrain to go with the setting already anyway :)

Mantic "Dust Tactics" type skirmish game with 2' by 2' game mats, plus plastic building sprues.

Really excited by that new Mantic Kickstarter actually, think it is going to be massive.

Aside from Mantic obviously trying to fill the void left by Necromunda, one has to think as well that this game is going to be a great source of very cheap terrain (in bulk) when it does finally go on sale!

I'm not convinced by the Mantic terrain... It's just not working for me. Untill now there is not much variety in the 3"x3" tiles.

But maybe I'm biased. I just spent alot on WarMill terrain :P

The big thing for me is the mats. 60cmx60cm textured fabric mats would be a very forgiving surface to play Infinity on.

Hunter2k3, I think the terrain sprues for their Kickstarter are very much a work in progress. From what I have heard, there is the possibility of them dropping to $5 a sprue or so if the KS continues at its current rate, and there will be a big new 'reveal' of what else to expect from the terrain on Wednesday.

IMO there is already some really beautiful terrain on the market - I've got a sizeable collection myself from various HDF producers. However, it wasn't cheap. If this stuff looks even 50% as good as that it could be a massive boon to Infinity simply because it will present a vastly cheaper alternative, and stuff like the mat (as Lampyridae says) will be really useful also.

Yup, I think even if you have absolutely no intention of playing Deadzone, some of those terrain-only deals are extremely tempting - all of that Antenociti stuff is made already as well, so it won't have the usual KS negative of buying stuff and then having to forget about it for 6 months until the thing is produced!

No, it'll still take time for those things to be produced. It depends what "wave" it will ship in. Even 1st wave you will still have to wait ~6 months for the unmade plastic tooling & production.

Ah yes.. I suppose it depends whether they ask Antenociti to wait and send his stuff along with the first of the Mantic bits and pieces (at the end of this year?) or just send it when they are made. Pretty sure all of those terrain pieces are purchasable now if you look at their website.

Escenorama resin terrain indiegogo

by surprize » May 21st, 2013, 5:03 pm

http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/escenorama-sci-fi-line?c=home

This looking interesting for resin terrain. I'm not convinced their buildings fit in with stuff like MAS necessarily, but their accessory packs (bases and boxes/pipes) look OK for $20/$25 a time. Obviously the casting quality is a big unknown, but I'm thinking I might punt on a $25 crates/barrels/pipes set to use as dressing for scratch builds and other bits of laser cut terrain I have.
