New Infinity Review blog (Now with full August reviews!)

by jake » February 1st, 2016, 4:49 am

Hi. I just started an Infinity review blog, where I'll be reviewing new Infinity miniatures, rules and products, plus Infinity related stuff from other manufacturers. Reviews are of course very subjective, but if you enjoy that kind of thing I'd like to invite you to check it out. Here's the link: http://infinityreview.tumblr.com/

Thanks,

Jake

per mayacast, CB planned on releasing the Devil dogs as their own box set separate from the USAriadna box set as is. The decided to offer an alt sculpt as a last minute bonus. So I think its better than the alternative.

So we get both sets of arms in the Devil Dogs standalone box then? In that case I'd withdraw most of my complaints.

Do you mean extra arms?

Only single set of arms I think. But Im saying that their original plan was to only release the same sculpt from the USA box set in their own box. They decided to make it a better deal by doing the arm swap.

CB seems to be going towards less optional parts, and doing exclusives with just one or two parts different. Old Van Zant had two sets of arms, now you got one with the exclusive and other with the normal release. Other products had extra parts, now that is rare, if done at all. As in Pokemonitis Strategy.

I actually think that was a really awful idea, As I said in my review, I feel like this puts USAriadna players in a bad position. Players who bought the army pack last year now have to decide if they want to buy an expensive nearly identical set of models if they want to play the Shotgun profile. I know some players are fine with having duplicate models, but I personally hate it. This move also puts new USAriadna players who missed the army box in bad position because they now don't have access to the Pistol/Chainrifle model at all.

It seems like it would have been a much better idea to release the version from the army box as is, then create a new model for the Shotgun profile later. As someone who was really looking forward to the Shotgun model this is hugely disappointing.

No complaint about only one body for Voronin? I'm seriously debating doing something illegal to have both the cigar-smoking HVT and the antipode-packing version.

Wait, the photos show three miniatures but in reality you get two and have to select if pairing them or keeping them separate?

Well, my blister only came with one body for Voronin. Suppose I should ask CB about it.

I would, because they even have it listed as two models, one with the ccw the other as an HVT. That implies three models.

Good time to remind them this crap would not happen if they had a list of parts in the card/box, or at least in their site.

My impression is that there are two different Voronin releases, one with the Antipode that represents the new HSN3 profile, and one with a Cigar that's meant to be used as a HVT. Am I wrong about that, or am I not understanding what you are saying?

http://infinitythegame.com/article.php?id=175 (images hosted at imgur... :ohdear: ) shows code 280180-0574. That is a single product. Or maybe they forgot to add a second code to the image. But local shop only lists one Voronin, with this same picture, and they already list the other HVTs.

Yes - from what I can see, Veronin is a single product with multiple build options.

Thanks for next interesting review :)

I have to agree with you about the Maghariba's painting. The model itself is just great, but I also think that Giraldez made it less "transparent" in form. It's hard to write for me but I hope that you understand 'cause you've written something similar yourself.
The painting is good, the battle damage etc. nice, but it's true, that Maggie just looks messy.

It's possible that with my style of painting and tendency to realism I will damage my Maggie maybe even more, but I'll try to make the shape of it clear.
Someday in the unspecified future ;)

Angel is such a great painter that it's weird to see a "miss" from him. His Maghriba may be one of those models that looks much better in person though. The weathering and damage just makes it so hard to read, at least in photos.

I don't know, I'm going to have to be the voice of dissent here. I like the paint job on the Mag. I didn't feel like it was dirty or hard too read, and I really liked the use of a more gritty scheme, which you don't see often in the official stuff. I will agree that sculpt-wise those little triangles are just space fillers, and I was not a fan of them.

I agree with both of you. I like the paint job, but I don't think it works for showing off the features of the miniature.
