Excellent work as usual. Great attention to detail.
Looks like a fun piece to play on.
Is this for a specific game?

Merci, Marc. No, not for any game specifically, just a strange idea to use craft sticks somehow. I saw the hexagonal watchtower, made from wood no less, and Boom! Inspiration. I would not recommend using craft sticks in this way. I can see uses for them, but not as the main material in a project.

Now, getting back into the hobby for this year, first things first.
The Table of Shame for 2015

In my defense, I spent from May onwards mainly painting.
The Table of Fame for 2015

Well, some fun projects there. Plenty of empty space too

For 2016, I will be emptying the ToS instead of adding to it. There's no space on it anyway, so not a hard decision to make, eh? I'm starting from the lower right corner of the ToS photo. ( The building was in the ToS 2014 photo too, in the same spot. Yeah, I want to finish this sucker.)

It is textured and base coated. Now for the details-- windows doors, etc. The roof will be done similar to the previous adobe building I finished. This building was my experiment with making foam core. I won't try that again. The first floor is a styrofoam packing shape, and that worked out okay.

Reverend Healer is still WIP. Also, the mini is 36.5 mm to 37 mm tall on a 3mm base, for scale purposes. I should finish painting it soon too, no?

Thanks for stopping by.

Have I told you lately how much I love those buildings?

I cannot recall, TBH, but my memory is not what it used to be. :( However, C&C and C (compliments) are always welcomed :D

A bit more painting, this is the final look of the adobe exterior. Since it is the same for all these buildings I went ahead and did all at once. Apparently, I am serious about finishing things this year.

I'm not convinced that the rectilinear and curvilinear pieces belong on the same table, but seeing them all together feels like good progress. I think I'll be concentrating on the rectilinear piece now. The roof will be similar to the one in back left of the middle photo.

Rectilinear ones could be in the centre, while curveds are around, as some kind of transition to natural things in the edges (or one side of the table to the other, representing just the end of a big settlement). Integration in environment by morphing.

No Worries MoB, I have plans.

Thanks Schoon.

Going with simple rectangles for tiling the porches. Needs more painting. But progress.

Of course this is WIP of the tiling.

Thanks CS. I think it is because I use an actual scale, rather than just make up measurements. At least I'd like that to be the case. ;)

Porch tiling done, starting the roof. The other adobe building roof shows how the roof on this one will turn out

You may note that the vigas are in place too, but not finalized. I do hope to finish this building very soon. I'm finding that the back and forth between painting minis and building is a bit much for me these days. I really need to pick one thing and finish it. (No worries, I am painting Penthesilea too. I will finish in time, barring something unpleasant, like getting my hands possessed by the spirit of Shakey the Mohel again.)

Do you have example floor plans or examples that you're scaling down? Is that your secret to success?!

Sometimes...
As seen on page 2 of this very thread...
Image
Became the Comfort Station, and
Image
Became the first adobe building, which is seen in a few of the photos above. Really though, simply sticking to a consistent scale throughout the process, and from building to building, and sizing things according to real world equivalents ( no derpy 1" wide single doors for example), with a little deviation for ease of measurement ( measuring 0.1mm increments is not going to happen...) is all it takes.

Thanks guys. Bit more progress. Goal is to finish by 1 April. Maybe I make it, maybe no. :S

Here is the roof, all done ( well, a bit more painting needed on the vent)

Windows are next, then the doors, and that'll finish it (Almost. There is the issue of the interior, and a few details the locations of which depend upon the interior. But they are minor things. And I'll save the interior detailing for later. I have a table of shame to clear first.)

Deine kuh? That's an interesting idiom. I like it. But, as someone who grew up with a dairy farm as a neighbor-- the farm had Ayrshire cows, FYI-- I can say this about cows. They are shameless, utterly shameless. Even udderly shameless. XD Drop by when you can. No need to comment every time. Heaven knows I'm very lazy about commenting these days.

Ah, windows. ( No, not 10. 12 actually.)

Yeah, as seen in Mulan. :munch:

I stopped watching Disney movies quite some time ago. Except Fantasia. That one I can watch repeatedly.

Tiles and roof are layered. They look pretty realistic up close, IRL.

Not done yet. RL interruptions.

Reverend-Healer is a very tall mini-- I need to put it on a shorter base. Hmm, If you look really carefully, you can see me reflected in the 'glass' of one of the windows. That was kind of weird to notice :?

Added some tile work to the door alcoves. Need to paint the rest of the window frames. And still, finish the doors. You can see how they will end up though. New goal, finish by end of the week-end.

No worries Arachas, I'll be here a while.

Building done for the time being. The table of shame just got a bit emptier :toot:
Interior work will be done *mañana* ;)
Andiamo...
First, how the roof was done. A close up.
Image
Layers, strips of 110# paper, 1 layer of 10mm wide strips, 1 layer of ~1mm wide strips on top of the 10mm wide strips. The vigas are cut from a bamboo skewer.
The doors, which could use a smidge more work, but only after the interior stuff is sorted. (which will need to include curtains or blinds for those windows.)
Image
Image
In scale, the doors are 88 inches high (41mm) Normal door height is 80 inches. That Reverend Healer is 38mm tall on a 3mm base. Reverend Healers are apparently very tall drinks of water...

Assorted views
Image
Image
Image
And a top down view
Image

Lesson learned here: Do not waste time with the cryovac styrofoam, since it does not like glue at all. A simple layer of 75# paper glued to the white styrofoam will do wonders with the white styrofoam. Bamboo skewers can be made to work very well.

I'll be back to painting for a while. I really need to catch up on that. ( There may be a Druze Hacker and a Box of Govads, and an HVT, to my collection soon. And I don't want to get even further behind. Sigh. I do hate being a slow painter. I didn't used to be.) I should finish that Reverend Healer next, eh? In honor of what I expect to be an awesome Rev-Healer cosplay :D

I do love the attention to detail that you put into your roof paneling and all the windows, lights, and doors. The technical work just astounds me (granted, I'm not particularly amazing at making terrain).

Job well done once again, red harvest! (PS, I think one or more of those models qualifies for the next quarter painting campaign)
