Ordered the full Sector 9 bundle two weeks ago and I got it today. That was super fast. The package was heavy enough the mailman insisted I carry it into the house.

The stuff is great. All the pieces pop out pretty easy and cleanly and the best part is the textured floor surface. I wasn't expecting it to be so subtle and so nice.

This is some sweet frickin' terrain.

Would love to see some pics and a quick writeup if you have time.

Did you get the Sector 9 base level, or one of the two big Sector 9 + more bundles?

I'm selling my Tau at the moment and I really want to invest in some nice terrain for Infinity!

The ELMOR set is due for painting next week as Ed is putting the finishing touches to the Surgery Shack right now, when we will do a photo session to get all the boxart and website pictures done, including the chop shop and waste-ation (which we've already been selling at shows). I've modelled a roof topper for the colony building and am prototyping a helipad module and large office module, then it's on to detailing. The goal is to have the colony on sale at Salute in April to be released on the website straight after. I'll post pics of the colony building shortly with the new modules.

I've also been working on a new range of modular buildings with the emphasis on providing lots of coverage at a reasonable price, which is inspired by real modular architecture (and hexagons). The challenge was working out how to replicate current architecture in a way that has enough detail to be interesting and worth buying, and isn't a plain square box (we don't like square boxes ;)). Still at an early stage, but it will allow us to release new modules very quickly by using a standardised wall system and just drawing new floor plates. I'll post pictures when they're a bit more interesting to look at.

Here's a couple of pics of the helipad mk1 and roof topper, helipad needs a couple of tweaks but nothing too major. The big 'fin' on the topper will be an engraved acrylic sign, think ironic tower block names like Glamour Mansions, Equisite Heights, etc ;)

And just for fun, here's a pic of Magno's Sector 9 set just before dispatch, 11.6kg of corridor loveliness :D

You're a true artist Harry. I've seen numerous examples of MDF terrain from many companies and they all work off of the rectangle, not very exciting. You Sir have transcended your medium to produce truly unique forms. You've forced me to accept that MDF laser cut can be ascetically pleasing. I fear I'll break down soon and buy some from you.

what would be really neat is if the helipad had modular stairs and sides so you could have it as a nexus for the colony rather than an off to the side thing.

also, am i correct in assuming that the roofs come off of the buildings?

I think it would be easier at this point to model a new helipad for that, but it's something we'll look at for the next wave of parts :)

Yep all the modules have useable interiors, the inspiration behind this project was to create a modular stackable set that didn't require taking the whole thing apart to use the insides.

Ed sent over a couple of pictures of the Surgery Shack he's been painting up ready for boxart, I haven't seen it in the flesh yet but it looks rather lovely! We still need to pick some of the details out by hand but it's almost done.

The total footprint for this building is about 300 x 200mm, so it takes us a far old bit of the table.

I write a rough guide on our blog here which goes over the basic process, I'll pester him to do a more in-depth guide at some point. Long story short, lots of masking!

Masking is what I thought. A per-cut sticker mask would be really cool if available for purchase.

Really looking forward to seeing more of the new modular building.

I do have a request - I'd love to see some pictures of an assembled (even if unpainted) fence in "Recreational" style - that's the only one I can't seem to find a picture of. The 2D example only helps so much - I mean, I didn't care for Quarantine based on the 2D example, but I like it once I saw pictures of it.

I'll get a picture of some shortly, in the meantime you can see some in the first picture here.

The weekend vanished in a haze of meeting up with old uni friends, but I did manage to get a test cut done for the large office pod. Unfortunately my phone conked out before I could get pics of the whole setup, but since it now takes up my entire desk I suppose new modules will have to wait!

The office pod has a flexible cubicle layout, currently there can only be cubicles as they extend past the halfway point of the floor, while I'm tempted to tweak it so there can be 4 I think in practice it would start getting pretty cramped in there and they would end us being less useable and instead I'll model up some waiting room bits to fill the space. There will also be a walkway running around the perimeter of each pod.

On to detailing!

Good news everyone!

Yeah, we finally sorted out that pesky shipping thing. Uk shipping is now free on all orders, European shipping got about 30% cheaper (the highest charge is now £12.99 at 5kg and above, which is a feck-load of terrain) and US and rest-of-the-world will be getting significantly cheaper after this weekend once I've had a chance to go over all the postage rules (we're away at a show this weekend and it's gonna take a bit of working out!).

In the meantime, Ed is spraying up the ELMOR skylevel kit ready for photos next weekend while I get the instructions done, so those products that have been sat around waiting to be released will finally be out just in time for everyone to take advantage of the new shipping rates :D

PS. Yep the new modular buildings will have etched detail, I just haven't got to that bit yet ;)

Last week was spent painting and gluing the high level ELMOR set together ready for a big photo sesh we need to do prior to Salute, but in the meantime I painted up another body booth and played around with a Surgery Shack (which will be released very shortly) after a day spent at a very quiet show.

Just to show it does get used "in the wild" for our games (and not just for Warmill to play Morat Doctors and Charontid Nurses!!)

Also some photos of my attempts to do some fairly quick counter shading and block masking with an Airbrush on the SIR crates. Pretty simple stuff but I think it looks quite effective.

We need a Nomad player in our club, stat! :D Surprize is painting up a Surgery Shack as well so we'll be sure to get some pics of it in action when it's done.

Thought I'd mention that the acrylic bits for the Surgery Shack will be in frosted green like the foodbooth for release, rather than the, um, 'vibrant' orange shown above ;)

Ed's finished painting the sky-level ELMOR set, so photos will be done this week to get them on the site for pre-order this
weekend.
