My point was more to illustrate the differences between ours and your guys' manufacturing of the stuff. You get state/regional difference due to different manufacturers and standards. So the files will have to be modified by the end-users depending on their supplier's stock. And probably from batch to batch from those suppliers, too.

We don't have to worry about the little details like that here. Besides, with the eleventy nine different MFG/HDF terrain producers you have in the US, I hardly think you are starving for product. :D It's ok for different global regions to have differing architectural styles on their buildings. (I.E. We don't ALL have to have the same stuff, provided the basic details get met).

:D

I'll second the question about German retailer. This will save lots of money.

I agree, but I would really like to have those new CNC buildings without paying arm, leg, and firstborn for postage to the US!

And now you understand how us in the Colonies feel when we get slugged for international postage.

Sometimes you just have to suck it up and pay it.

Cool set, checked out their website it does look like they offer a bulk order discount that would help offset shipping costs. Get everyone in your local group/game store to kick in a few bucks towards the terrain and have it all purchased as one order.

Great work though from our English speaking brothers and sisters down under.

Absolutely stunning - not sure I can justify dropping £500 on a table for a single game, though. =-P

The 3D nature of the terrain is pretty much my fantasy for an urban board. I imagine I wouldn't want so many tall buildings - just some low level ones and ruins.

Well, if you drop enough $$ to get a full 4x4 (16+ streets), shipping to the US is only ~$55. Better than I thought.

Still pricey, but I can get enough tiles to cover the table and shipping is "only" 1/6 of the total.

OK, I bit the bullet and ordered 5 tiles of this (honestly, I'm planning to use it for the RPG, but that's not important right now...).

I'll let everyone know how it turns out after it arrives.

My concern - and please tell me if it's unfounded - is that you can make some measurements in your head because of the visible grid you're creating. Like, "Oh, I know that I'm 2 feet away, so I'll shoot my gun now as opposed to not shooting."

How would an ITS official view that? Would it be used in a tournament?

You play table top wargames long enough you don't even need a grid. There are players who can eyeball distances to within an inch.

Yeah, when I was playing (40k) every day after work I could usually eyeball ranges to within 0.5" or tighter. Calibrated eyeballs indeed.

This is true. And adding a grid may make it easier for people to eyeball but it also closes the gap between those who can eyeball it without a grid and those who can't.

Back in 3rd ed 40k, when "Guess" range weapons meant exactly that, I had a knack for getting the marker to within 0.5" either way - but I worked in an industry where inches and feet were still in common usage - we might have been metric since 1966, but it didn't mean much for tilers.

Still no English language EU retailer?

I tried looking at the tinbitz site but it can be confusing for a non German, I'm looking at my checkout now with two desert buggies in and I'm not sure which button to order! :)

Why not ask IJW to stock it for example.

Or contact your Local Game Store and ask them to stock it.

Don't forget they have a stackable 'discount' so each thing you add to any order increases the discount.

No more 'buy x and get y off deals' they are a thing of the past with CNC.

Yeah $35 for a square is a hefty slog in the end anyway. I think I'm a bit jaded after laser cutting stuff myself and seeing how cheap it is. HOWEVER if you were cool to pay that, those CNC tiles are the tits and definitely the one to go for.
