Peacemaker vs. bulleteer

by grampyseer » July 30th, 2014, 12:06 am

Hey all,

I'm building an ASA list and considering a remote box.

Bulleteers or peacemaker

I find I'm SWC heavy so i'm leaning towards the peacemaker. The FO auxbot would also work well being deployed with my knight if montessa LGL.

On the other hand, 2 killy ODD remotes....hard to say no.

Has anyone any experience going either way.

I don't play ASA, but I've tried both remotes before.

Recently I've been taking Peacemakers, and they act as expensive roadblocks. The auxbot functions like a mine, and the Peacemaker acts as a repeater for your hackers to annoy heavy infantry or TAGs. As soon as they get shot at though, they will die. Perhaps with some Naga support, they would last longer. So for me, they normally waste 2 or 3 additional orders of my opponent before going down. I haven't tried them when going first, so they might be more useful then.

Spitfire Bulleteer is an absolute beast. Just send it across the field, and it will earn back its points in no time. Every time I bring a shotgun Bulleteer, I end up never moving it because it seems like it'll take too many orders to get to its target, or there isn't a safe path to get in good range.

I'd say Peacemaker is more useful in ITS where order management is so important. If you go first, you need less orders to cause lots of damage. If you go 2nd, it'll waste a bunch of orders as your opponent tries to clear it out.
If you play other scenarios, Bulleteers have more raw killing power.

I'd like to like Peacemaker, but he's been absolute wash. Any opposite force with two-three infiltrators with mines will simply not allow him to use his deployment to the fullest potential. On paper it's easy to see his potential, especially with two Naga but in practice any force with board control will make you reconsider your decision. Plus it gets dull feeling like you need to field field two Naga and seize the initiative to get something out of him.

Bulleteer is awesome, ODD gives him some protection, fast chassis with Spitfire (you'll want Spitfire for both types of REM). It would be hard to find something nicer for flanking my regular/bagh mari link team. I'm not sure, if I understood correctly but you do get only 1 AVA on him. For some reason Peacemaker is AVA 2.
You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.

Hmm. I really liked the idea of supporting my montessa with the peacemaker.

The Peacemaker is more versatile than the Bulleteer. I actually like the heavy shotgun on the Peacemaker as it becomes a very inexpensive platform for all sorts of shenanigans. Use the auxbot on a 10" move to clear multiple Krazy Koalas. Many opponents do not expect hacking from Pan-O. The Peacemaker is a great repeater option. The heavy shotgun can be fired as a Str 15 AP round, great against hard targets. It's a BS 12 that can easily get to short range thanks to Mech Deployment. However Nagas are probably better in support vs. the Montessa. The rules for Mech Deployment tend to overly concentrate your forces when multiple models are deploying this way.

The value of the BSG on both of them just went up due to the +6 at 0-8. I think the Bulleteer is better. The mech deploy and Auxbot are not worth the extra cost. ODD is better.

I agree that mech deploy is not worth it on a fast unit that could instead have ODD.

The only times I have thought about using Mech Deploy is certain ITS missions like Quadrant and Front line to save on orders for securing zones.

I have tried both with SAA and I do like them both. The ODD Spitfire Bulleteer is killer.

The peacemaker is a linchpin in one of my favorite Acon builds:
Montessa (I like the LGL)
2 Nagas (Hacker and Mono mines)
2 Peacemakers
Singh
Order Monkeys
This is a really aggressive list that is designed to be deployed at mid-table. It is best for board control missions. The abundance of aggressive models that are an immediate threat can really mess with opponents. I think its a fun list. So you can see how the peacemaker fits into the initial strategy: 4 DTW, 2 of which are fire, and can be placed in ways to black advancing units with multiple templates. They can protect the Montessa who should be speculatively firing grenades into link teams at a relatively safe BS. The nagas shut down movement corridors with mono mines and can spread the hacking bible for the major problem of HI and TAGs. In this list its about overloading your opponent from the get. See if it works for you, maybe you'll dig it.
