Reverend Healer

by BakuninLover » July 29th, 2014, 11:02 pm

Just looked at the "Designing Infinity Operation Icestorm" vid from BoW.

Reverend Healer a new troop type. She is a DCOTOR for Morias AND Custodiers. Bostrias own words.

I do not have my hands on a box of O:I so I only know from the vid.
What we know from that is her possible loadouts is Multi rifle, Combi, BS and last but not least a EXP CCW(could this be something that Morias will also be getting?). So nothing special there but solid.

I am psyched to be able to get a doctor(specialist) into these links as I love to field them. Bumping Custodiers to a 4 member team will do wonders and Moiras a way to get a presumably cheaper specialist in than the expensive hacker they have atm.

Please come with your opinions and extra info...

Here's a question: if they're making doctors designed to fit into link teams, do you think that means that a specialist using a special skill will no longer drop out of the link?

specialists never broke link using specialist skills actually, not that I know of... although they can not synch with civvies, then they leave the team.

Agreed, using a special skill does not drop you out of the link. There's a confusing line in the link team rules, but that's not what it means.

I played quite a lot with 3 member Custodier team, they worked with mixed results but i am pretty pleased. They are my favorites of the hole game so I like to take them as a link instead of Moderators from time to time but I really think 4 members and a sturdy doctor will make a big difference. I always been jealous of my QK friend who always field doctors in his links. Moiras links have mostly been in my lists more for fun than viable choice, but will be interesting to see how they fare in new edition and with the healer.

I wonder if this means that all Reverends might be able to link with each other?
Linking rules seem to get a bit more free recently, and it wouldn't be over powered with Bakunin either, it would just boost the poor Moiras a little and make them suddenly useful!

Also it looks a bit like Bakunin becoming the super Doctor faction. Take that Haqq. :P

I thought the same thing after hearing the linkability of the healer. This would make a versatile combination. I think it would make sense everyone is a reverend and i would say everyone does the same basic training with spezialising later. Maybe we will see something with N3.

First, let's see what exactly will be there in N3.
Second, if you make Custodiers linkable with Moiras, it kinda makes Moira Hacker pointless, doesn't it?
Third, well, if you call having a 3rd Doctor (in addition to Daktari and Avicenna) a "super doctor faction", that's very nice. While none of the Haqq doctors can rival Avicena in raw healing skill (s/he's a character, none of the Haqq doctors are), any Haqq faction can field as many Doctors as they have points for, provided they field a Lt. too :P

So don't get too cocky...

Interesting thought, I would like to see it, would make a very strong linkteam(perhaps too strong if Moiras get a good point drop as well). Perhaps we would rarely see more than 1-2 Custodiers in such links.

I would guess though it's not the case, feels like it would be quite unique with three different troop types that can mix in a link. Enomotarchos can do that but it has restrictions and kind of a trademark for the sectorial.

The reverend Healers likely are combat doctors that's been trained in aiding both Reverend troop types.

Well:

1. There already is a cheap Moira profile to fill up Link Team - the 30pts Combi / E/Mitter profile. I don't really think an unit of Moira's power should go any cheaper (ARM 3, ODD, WIP 14, Multiterrain). Actually, what really hurts Moiras, is the (IMO hugely inflated, compared to game effectivenss) point cost of the MultiRifle.
2. A 36/38 pts Custodier Hacker is hands-down better Hacker than the 50pts Moira Hacker - cheaper, equipped with -3 BTS and HD+.

Therefore, as I said, having Custodiers in Moira links would make Moira Hackers completely obsolete.
And 3 Custodiers + Doctor (to gain 6th Sense L2) would make something like an ultimate cyberwarfare unit... (should Hacking get Burst 2 in Link in N3... yikes!) just get them enough Repeaters...

'tis no Link Team, but a damn Coven! ;)

Well as it is now the 50 points Moiras Hacker is currently fully obsolete, too.
I go for the cheaper Moiras and bring a Custodier with HD+.

Agreed on Moira hacker, CB would never scrap a model either. Though I really think she will drop in points or perhaps get something to make her while taking.

Ultimate cyberwarfare link of Custodiers, like the sound of that!! And by all info at hand it sure looks like it has happened.

Even a single Custodier brings enough hackinh threat with it. My friend is still sad for the one game where i hacked his Scarface with a single Custodier without Evo-Repeater^^.

But the 4 man Custodier/Healer Link seems promising.

Thsat's for sure, primarily she'd have a discounted MultiRifle. A pity she has been modelled with one, or they could've dropped her to Combi variant, making her just a couple points above the Custodier.

My bet would that she's WIP15 though. Probably has NWI too. :P

And I said "super doctor" not "everyone can be a mediocre doctor" faction. :didactic:

What brings you a WIP 15 Doctor when you fail even the WIP 17 from Avicienna
But the linkability is sure a win.

Oh, I'd seriously doubt that. The other Reverend are WIP 14, and keeping to that standard would give you a doctor already above-average in the Nomad faction: Daktari and Tomcat Doc are WIP 13.
So if you call WIP 14 a "mediocre doctor", I think you're not entirely honest.

That, or something is terribly wrong with your math... :P

I make my assumption on her being similar good than the Father Knight. I guess we just have to wait and see. What also might be relevant here is her AVA, I guess.

Also this is the Nomad Section we can trash Haqq as much as we like here! :nomad:

I'm with Erhille in that she'll likely have WIP 14, same as the other Reverends (including Kusanagi).
As for NWI... possible, but not hugely likely. Only Machaon has the NWI+ODD+Doc combo at the moment, and he's a unique character.

Actually in the end of the video Bostria says something in the lines of Father Knight and Reverend facing each other in cinematic fight, BOTH equally leathal in close combat. Kind of suprise me as I would expect father to easily kiss Reverends ass goodbye at hand to hand combat hahaha. Nevertheless perhaps she this could be true that she has a nice cc profile as well, we know she got EXP cc which was not expected

I agree if she will be AVA 1 but I think there is a chance for AVA 2 within Bakunin. I do not think she will get NWI but would be fun with a completely new editon skill.

Fine. Keep that in mind next time you'd be negotiating wages for your Corregidor personnel. Or purchasing your next shipment of Silk.

I'll leave you a cue - it isn't going to reinforce your bargaining position, no, sir.

Ok you where right. I was wrong.

And she doesn't even have ODD.

Wait what she got Mimetism! Does this mean all Reverend will be downgraded? She certainly doesn't look the typical camouflage unit, so either Mimetism comes from skill, or the device just got a little bit worth.
I guess it can be a good thing. If Moiras get a lot cheaper.

Mimetism does only work on BS attacks. Unless you know something we don't know?

From the Wiki:
In game terms, any miniature attacking a figure with Mimetism will have a -3 Modifier to his BS Attribute for ranged attacks

And even with that hypothetical bonus, CC is not a great option for the Healer, unless something has changed dramatically. Its really just a defense skill on her.
The Father Knight seems to not have no MA Skill though, so that might be an idication of them changing it. But than again, over 20 means hit automatically hits too. :|
