Driveable Vehicles *WIP*

by Cpl. Sgt. Kill » July 28th, 2014, 11:45 pm

Hey all, in an attempt to make more diverse and interactive scenarios, I came up with some simple rules for driving the cars scattered about the table. Of course it would be optional and dependent on the scenario. I haven't had the chance to test it out, what do you ladies and gentlemen think?

Neat!

I'd remove the locked door bit though; seems like an unnecessary complication when some models could bodily lever a door off or break out the window. Otherwise I dig it.

It could be an optional thing, mostly applies to random cars on the street. Should HI be able to drive vehicles? I'm leaning towards no at the moment.

The Murder Mannequins are HI, and should be small enough to drive a vehicle.

As far as other heavy infantry getting in a vehicle, I'm old enough to remember the scene where Hightower gets in a compact car in Police Academy. :cop: If you want to count most heavy infantry as 1.5 or two passengers, that'd likely be reasonable.

So, you've got "opening the door" (in a manner that will be reversible) as a WIP roll. You're missing "remove the door to gain access to the interior" as PH roll (or close combat roll). Let success equal removing the door, and then make the vehicle's armor check to see how much extra damage removing the door caused.

Haha that was actually the next thing I was going to add. :v: Basically you'd get a choice between picking the lock or ripping the door off it's hinges.

My main concern about HI is for a specific scenario I'm making. The idea is one side has to steal a vehicle and drive it back to their side of the table. I don't want Achilles to hop in it and be indestructable (even more so than usual) for example.

From a balance stand point, yeah, I can see it being an issue with HI driving cars.

*edit* I just read overrun again, whoops, disregard CC question.

I still want Shinobu Kitsune facing a car by Sup Inf popping in and cutting it in half. So the driver's CC value is conveyed to the car? What about CC monsters like said Shinobu in the driver's seat? Also, does this mean for Overrun that Shinobu can 'sneak up' on people with MA5 with her car?

Electric Pulse? Cars don't really fight back so that seems fair to me.

Then don't make any distinction between the vehicle passengers and the driver--make everyone in the vehicle treated the same--and remove the penalty to shoot at the driver or passengers. As it stands, Achilles tells some Myrmidon to drive, gets in the passenger seat, and now he is indestructible.

If the vehicle provides anything better than just regular cover, you're going to have game balance problems.

I'd differentiate who can use a bracy by base size (or even better - in N3, by Silhouette size).

Assistant REM (G: Servant) and the like are smaller than ordinary humans. From a logical point of view they should be able to fit onto a brace (bah, even two in a brace, one, if a child's seat is provided ;)).

We have some REMs who are roughly human-sized (likely to be S 2) - Dakini Tacbots, Garuda Tacbots, Karakuri (OK, these are technically Remote Presence HI). I think they should be able to use vehicles and why not even drive them...?

We then have super-sized humans (at the moment, Ajax and Tarik Mansuri, who are on 40mm bases... which brings us into the realm of light TAGs, too). And they should not be able to fit into a normal car, I belive. Though large vehicles should be able to accomodate both them and REMs - those at 40mm bases, and those on 55mm bases. A van / truck / APC should be able to take enough cargo to equal a REM or Ajax...

Obviouslym, there are vehicles capable of carrying even the large TAGs, but I guess they're beyond the scope of these rules ;)

That there, there will be pure wine and honey and sugar
Fill up the wine cup and place it in my hand
(For) ready cash is better than a thousand credits.
