Palbots Don't Believe in Space Jesus

by captainspud » July 17th, 2014, 7:18 pm

So, I was just reading over the rules for Religious troops, and the wording of the last part struck me: "If all a player's figures are Religious, then two of them may give up their Orders to elect a new Lieutenant."

I'd never considered this before, but if I'm entirely religious except for a pair of Palbots on my Hospitalier... that's going to be enough to stop me from having an election from among the populace, isn't it?

;_;

Someone please tell me I'm missing something, because I don't want to have to add Palbots to my list of "stuff to never take in MO". :(

Palbots have no religious/non-religious/impetuous etc. status themselves, they're just add-ons to their controller.

All helperbots (palbots, zondbots, yaozaos, etc) are equipment and do not generate orders - they do not factor into your pool in any way. So in your above situation, if all the order-generating duders are Religious, you're good to go.

I feel like that part of the rule isn't written very clearly to begin with, but we already know LoL and such are getting a re-write in N3 anyways.

For now, though, compare these lines:

Religious wrote:If all a player's figures are Religious, then two of them may give up their Orders to elect a new Lieutenant.

G:Servant wrote:It is mandatory both figures belong to the same Combat Group where they count as a single figure.

So there is only one figure in question. Is the master of the Servant Religious? If yes, you're good to go.

Damn, double IJW'd.

I agree with the assessment above, but there is a wrinkle.

Servant Remotes are Not Impetuous figures, so they cannot be activated with Impetuous Orders.

This raises an inconsistency, since you actually look at the Palbot's statline to see if the Frenzied Hospitaler (under Joan) gets to use the Impetuous order to activate his bot.

Like I said, I agree with the previous reasoning in the thread. I'll field MAF armies containing only Morats and Slave Drones, and give myself the all-Religious bonuses if I go into Loss of Lieutenant. I think what matters in that case is that all order producing models are Religious.
