Am I the only one who thinks showing off some 3D renders a tabletop games does not make?

Same goes for tables/terrain/everything that isn't a Video Game development diary.

Take the Bug Hunt Corridors for example I jumped in on that Kick Starter campaign because I could see real tangible evidence of the quality of the completed product not a just say a CAD drawing. The creators here have atleast shown a single finished and painted model but it still doesn't instill me with enough confidence to back the kick starter as a whole though.
What I do: Chef by trade, arsehole by choice and I play and TO for Infinity when I'm not being either.

Well, you know (and if not, now you do), :didactic: 3D printing is not so cheap as the hype makes it look. Not if you want quality prints, and looking at the photos they posted, they probably will use a serious bureau, not one of those 3D printing companies that pop around. They have posted 2 or 3, and the newest is clearly high end, while the two first look rough for the task.

So showing one that can be compared to the renders is good, and sometimes, the most a new bussiness can do if the purpose of the crowdfunding is exactly getting the money to get the material parts, and not just a preorder. They use the campaign to get the money, test which models will go first and then print them, instead of getting the money from somewhere else , print a bunch and discard most.

For all you American Blue Bomber Fans, he finally landed his own board game. Of course, Capcom made it a regional license, so I'm sorry for people from anywhere else. :(

I'm probably gonna throw down $25 for Protoman; I don't have enough people around to play the board game, but I love Proto.

Jeez, gotta pony up $140 to get the stretch goals!

I strongly suspect that this one is going to be very, VERY late. The formula for determining expected delivery time seems to get really wonky with massively overfunded projects like this one. Just look at how nuts and delayed OGRE was.

Besides, I'm still waiting for Relic Knights (massively delayed), the 28mm East Asian Village (delayed), and Robotech RPG Tactics (minimal delays, expected in Feb).

Yeah, this is a money grubber on Megaman nostalgia for sure, sort of like how Mighty No.9 is feeling so far. Still, depending on how big the Protoman miniature is, I can still see myself dropping $25 for him and the 'art print.'

You're still waiting on the East Asian terrain? Dang, man, I got mine about two months ago. All I got was the little shrine, though.

Still, worth the wait. They're really nice.

Yeah, I went in for the entire Village set. It will be pretty nice to make a table for JSA, Kensei, Bushido, or RPing.

If you are asking how they did the texture roofs, it looks like they just used the same gravel people use on their bases.

I really like the 1" square planning tiles in there, along with the ARC generator structure with acrylic panels.

These guys have nice designs, and I'd be kicking that if I was employed right now.

This one seems promising. It's a second edition of the game MERCS, and while I haven't heard many good reviews about the first edition, it seems kinda cool.

Fixed link https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/17 ... rcs-recon/

"Recon" seems to be a boardgame, vs original one being a skirmish game (and already in 2nd edition of the rules, based in the KS info). They also have a dice game ("Conflict").

That's not really a problem, Infinity models tend towards 32mm anyway. The general blobby aesthetic with surface detail added on top is more of an issue... :(

32mm total or to eyes? Posed or unposed?

As IJW says, detail. And also proportions or thickness. In current renders they could pass as Heavy Infantry if the size is OK.

I'm excited about the MERCS Recon KS. Looks like a lot of minis to be used for a 3rd party force, or scenario play.

TBH I'm more interested in learning how the system operates, and using it to build more exciting narrative scenarios for Infinity play. Think there's a lot of potential for boarding/raiding scenarios.

I don't like Merc's limitation on movement cards in the previous incarnation, and those little cut-out circles do not excite me for Recon.
