The rules for SWC state that you get 1 SWC for every 50 pts of your army list.
How does this work with the first round of the escalation league.
At 120 pts do you get 2 SWC or 3?

Just 2, I believe. It should be a FAQ, no idea why they forgot to say round up or down (or "every full 50 points, no fractions") in the rules.
If not worth saving, is it worth rewriting? What is more, was it worth writing?

It says for every 50 - not "for every 50pts or part thereof" - so you get 2. As 120 is more than 100 (2 SWC) and less than 150 (3 SWC). 120 is 20 more than 100 - NOT 50 more than 100.

I frankly have stumbled on something similar.
Many of my listbuilding adventures give me something like 297/298 and 6 SWC, with no way to fill in those extra points. As I understand, I can only get 5.5 SWC if I don't reach the full 300, am I right? Because in some armies it is just damn hard to ever reach the full 300p/6SWC.. Is there any ruling on that?

As far as I have understood the swc allowance is calculated from the point maximum, so if you agree on playing 300pts (max) it doesn't matter if you field 297 or 120 - you get 6swc.

CoveredInFish is correct, it's the agreed point maximum that it's used to decide SWC allowance.
Which still doesn't get away from first level of the escalation league of 120pts. That IS its maximum points level. It's not "150 but you can only have 120pts on the table", but 120pts and therefore still only 2 SWC.
Personally, I prefer to run in multiples of 50 for an escalation type thing. 120 is an odd points level - 150 is easier to get teh noobs to learn the game with. +50pts, +1SWC.

That would clarify a lot for me! I've always felt a bit cheating if I fielded 297/6 armies, but couldn't find another way around it and thought that those 3 points wouldn't make such a big difference. Thanks for clarifying!
