Right. So I guess the question is how important is weapon size? Does the BS Fiday get resculpted because the weapon is larger than the more recently released Haqq models? Even though the model istelf looks great and otherwise fits the current Haqq aesthetic?

I think the real question is how serious do CB take the aesthetics of their miniatures. It's looking they take it quite serious. Re-sizing rifles and sharpening detail is probably pretty low on the to-do list, but I can see it being something they'd want to fix eventually. Also, after the Ghulam SWC box, new Janissary, and hopefully a new Hunzakut are released, I think we'll see a noticeable difference between those modes and the current starter equivalents. Not old fusiliers/new fusiliers different, but different enough to notice. Being the starter for the faction, that's likely something CB don't want people to notice.

Then again, between new releases and re-sculpts, it takes CB a long time to get things out. "Soon" is pretty relative (3 years seems "soon" to me).

I can't see gun sizes being super important to them when they change the size with the model these days. For example, most female models have smaller rifles, and Tarik who had a rifle that puts HMGs to shame.

It seems with the move to 3d sculpting, they are resizing weapons on the fly per model depending on how much they up or down scale it from the standard. Females seem to be sculpted at regular size and shrunk slightly, resulting in a smaller rifle. Tarik seemed to be sculpted to standard size and blown up to his new size.

The problem is if you don't look after the details, like standardised gun sizes, this method of model sculpting will show it.

This was actually covered at the Interplanetary seminar as we saw a series of dollies for Tarik. He was sculpted at the final size (there was a side-by-side render with a standard human dolly before the posing had been done or detailing added) and the gun rescaled to fit. Gun size appears to be an aesthetic decision. It's not one I agree with but it's not an accident.

That's interesting. I always assumed it was a case of resizing the 3D sculpt and just letting the gun get resized with it.That means for those females with smaller guns, like the female Bolt in the Neoterra starter, they're actually resizing their guns to be ladysize?

Well, that kind of puts paid the idea that they'd redo the Haqqislam starter for weapon scale consistency, since they're not even being consistent about it on new models anymore.

I prefer the aesthetic approach of models fitting one near another, just like they have heads in proportion to rest of body and not like some other brands.

A big guy is more impressive when weapons show he is big. No, wait, then they will make weapons smaller. Oh, shit!

Unless they weren't ready to do so. Bundling/reducing SKUs may take priority (and is an easy short term decision).

For example, they released the Pan-O support pack not too long ago, but we're probably getting new versions of those soon.

Then again, at some point in most of the faction's release schedules, they released a new model with an updated weapon sculpt immediately after releasing a new model with an out of date weapon sculpt. There's likely always going to be some models that don't quite fit the current aesthetic.

Basically, it's a messy situation that will only be fixed in time, and at CBs discretion. Personally, I hope to see standardized weapons across he faction eventually.

Aha! I got it, other games are "28mm heroic", and this game is become "28mm aesthetic"!

Or maybe CB wants to increase the sales of the weapon sprues for conversions.

I'm against Haqq getting a new starter box anytime soon. For the past two years we have had almost an equal amount of new profiles being sculpted to resculpts/repacks. Lets not keep that up. We already know another box of Kum are on the way and it looks like a resculpted Janissaries but how about some profiles we haven't seen before sculpted, like every other Skirmisher load out since they are all really good and important for ITS, the missing Azra'il, instead of resculpting old HI (as cool as they look) how about the Ahl Fassed which has one really nice sculpt and could use more, another Barid since they made them so incredibly awesome. Several other armies are getting new units that will show up in 3rd edition and/or Acheron Falls, do that for Haqq as well.

I would like to see some holes filled in instead of and here's a year of resculpts and repacks.

Finally if they are going to resculpt, please don't give me a Djan rifle and a Djan HMG blisters. Just give us a Djan box with a Djan blister with both rifle and HMG in it available for a month for those of us who have the newer hacker and sniper. Janissaries should also be like this except they don't have a fourth weapon load out, not that such an issue stopped Wulvers, Ghazis, etc...

Now different subject, chain rifles are made for the model they are made for. Unlike other weapons they didn't go through a universal shrinking process sometime in the last few years like other weapons did. I just put together a new Kum and his chain rifle is much larger than the SAS CRAP who is three years old. I know because I chopped off the other Kum's rifle and gave him the chain rifle.

IJW was the one who informed me that CB doesn't simply scale the chain rifle but sculpts it to be an appropriate size for the size of the model (correct me if I'm wrong).

No worries, just give it two years when over 100 new blisters/box sets have been released with about 1/4th of those being resculpts and then we can revisit whether or not the current vanilla starters still look good in comparison to the newer stuff.


I think they said something like, they give whatever size gun to the model that'll let them best achieve the model pose they are going for. Having guns that are too big or too small for the particular model holding it can lead to issues of visual awkwardness.

Finally, sales rankings, yay!
So despite all the complaining Dire Foes sold really well. And while PanO may want to claim to be the Hyperpower they don't sell as well as ALEPH and JSA.


Also Janissarie and Ghulam concept art show the same HMG and boy am I hopeful this is true.

The album also has some amazing shots of the tables, the cosplay, some man love, more concept art, shots of the studio, some country and most importantly people having a lot of fun.

I'm kind of shocked the O-Yoroi is on their top 10 list this late after release and with it being unable to be an LT objective grabber. The fact that three TAGs are up there and none of them have been released in the last six months is just weird. You wouldn't think TAGs would sell that well.

I'm really disappointed that Dire Foes sold so well. That just means they will be making more of them. Pay $40 for only one model you actually need. Yeah no thanks...

I'm also really surprised that their top 10 lists swings so drastically from month to month. This one is radically different from the one we saw at Ficzone. I wonder what accounts for that.

Missing models might simply be ones whose icons aren't changing or that they haven't made a new icon for them yet.

I've no Spanish to speak of, so I don't know what the title says. But I do notice these are all boxes - top 10 boxes, not top 10 overall?

The list is for boxes only, and no info of what time frame, other than up to a given ref.

The swinging is because every time they seem to show something different and never a total number of what was sold. Blisters, boxes, anything, this year, past year, last quarterly, since HS, since day 0... some of the boobie sellers are missing from this picture, when they admited they are all time top sellers.

A lot of the stuff on that list makes sense. The DFs, Iguana, and Anaconda boxes are useful to multiple factions, and the single model boxes are the types of models popular with painters as well as players. The ones that surprise me are the Myrmidon and Aleph support boxes. Then again, Aleph seems to be popular, and they're one of the few factions with a nice uniform style across their entire range. Actually, I really would have expected some Tohaa on that list.

The monster thing was an example of Fausto's work from before he joined CB.

The sales list is *ongoing* sales of box sets, so ignoring the first couple of months of sales for new releases so that they can see which boxes keep on selling after the initial rush. The code at the end of the line is the release order so the lower the number the older the set - so yes, the Myrmidons do incredibly well considering how old they are.

My experience as a small retailer is that the Dire Foes just keep constantly trickling over.

Regarding weapon scale - a bunch of posters have suggested that the weapons etc. being different sizes on the recent female sculpts is down to the models being sculpted at the wrong scale and then shrunk - this is the exact opposite - all the models appear to be sculpted at the final scale digitally but CB then resize the weapons if they feel the size of the weapon isn't appropriate for that sculpt. I don't like it because it makes the weapons look less consistent, but it's an intentional aesthetic decision, made because changing the weapon sizes is so easy with digital sculpting.
