Batman Miniature Game

If you haven't heard of it, check out the beautiful models over at
Knight Models.
It's a Spanish game set in the DC universe: it started out with just Batman, but right now there's also rules for the Watchmen. Rumours persist there might be a Marvel variant coming out (considering Knight Models is doing lots of sexy 35mm models, not a stretch).
You're using small groups of models, consisting of a leader figure, sidekicks and henchmen. If you've played the Batman Arkham games, you know what's what: Joker and his goons, Two-Face and mobsters, Penguin and thugs. Of course, you can play Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Catwoman, you name 'em and supplement the gang with Commissioner Gordon and police officers.
[to be continued, I'll explain more about the game]
Picture of my first finished model: Batman!

I've played it - I have Ra's Al Ghul (from the films but painted in green & yellow!), talia, film bane (boo, hiss!) the ninjas, deathstroke and the scarecrow.
It has the potential to be a good game but suffers from lack of clarity, too many fiddly bits and centimeters! They are clearly promoting miniatures rather than a game per se and it shows.
Guns are deadly but melee is also quite awesome in that it is a viable option but guns are still really nasty. IE pleb with gun = dangerous, pleb with sword not dangerous, Ra's Al Ghul with sword = VERY dangerous (but still 'dies' if shot a lot!)

I've had my eye on it for a while, especially running Ras and Deathstroke. add ninjas for flavor. Problem is, I don't really like painting studio/canon color schemes much... :/
Still, I really like the light mechanics.

I hear you, even though I tend to steal historical schemes for my Infinity minis...
Still, I really like the light mechanics.
If Infinity wasn't 175 years into the future (where everyone could be assumed to have some level of nightvision or at least weapon-mounted lights), I might add the lighting rules to a scenario or three.
And I may do that anyway.

Then don't. I've seen plenty of cool alternate paint schemes for these models. They're your models, do what you like!

I have no problem doing armies styled after historical militaries; especially with it already being a prevalent theme in Infinity.
However, I can’t find myself painting Batman Orange or Deathstroke green and purple; I have too much agency with them as characters. Hell, I’m still not over DC changing official paint schemes for people like Nightwing with New 52, let alone ME doing it.

I'm painting up my Nightwing in grey, like the Young Justice League custome (I saw it in Son of Batman, though):
As opposed to his sleek, black look in Arkham City. And then you could also choose to do his bird in red, instead of blue, because that's how he looks in the New 52 comics.
DC changes colors and outfits around, why shouldn't you?
If you check out the Facebook group, there's tons of people trying alternative stuff on their main characters. Sure, you're not doing Batman in orange... but I've seen completely black, completely grey, grey/black, grey/black... tons of options there.
I already mentioned Nightwing and you can virtually do whatever you like on the villains: they're more colourful anyway!

Fun game, cool miniatures and cant wait to give batsy a run for his money with the joker and harley.
That said... Customizing these characters wont be as good as infinity, but i am playing awesome characters that are brought to (a certain degree) life by my (mediocre) awesome painting skills. You don't have to get many miniatures what makes it all the more fun to paint the few you get as their comic counterparts.
Played it just the once, a bit chaotic. I think that with a few play throughs with your list things will become more natural and you wont be needing the rules as much. Skirmish games for the win and this one has got his own kind of flavor.

Like I said man, I can't dig it; things like Red Nightwing annoyed me a lot with the reboot.

Yes, which is part of the fun of the game: a lot of characters work like you would expect them to!
Now, I didn't mention what happened just before that... one of Penguin's goons executed Nightwing with his Ak-47... that's
not supposed to happen!

The problem with licenses is that DC for exemple takes a cut over and above the normal price. Same for LOTR and Hobbit miniatures. GW is already espensive but when you add to that the studio royalties on each model its indecent ! I stay away from franchise products.

There's definitely a bit of "character model surcharge" going on with the model pricing...
Everything that I've heard about the game makes it sound like a very neat game.
But, darn it, that's bad timing for my wallet. Rulebook pre-orders through the 15th for either a free Red Hood or Alfred model depending on which cover version a person wants.

Due to overwhelming lack of demand, locally, I'm flogging off my Batman goods for real cheap if I can be of any use?

Still surprised to see you can't seem to get rid of it, Cho. The Batman Facebook group is THE most active wargaming FB group I know and things are really picking up here in the Netherlands as well.

When you're only going to sell 1 of any given model to a person instead of 100+, you do kinda need to charge more. At least if you're going to stay in business you do.
I'm going to be really surprised if Knight Models gets permission to do a Marvel game, or even to make BMMG rules/stats for the Marvel models. Marvel and DC generally do NOT like sharing their universes.

Anyone have pictures of their painted Batman minis?

I painted one a while ago:
Surprising lack of interest in the area, though. Could still get a couple of models more (Adam West, how could one not?)

So I decided to play this game 2 months ago. Played 5 games against the same opponent. I am aware of several players in my area who bought starters but they stop playing after 4-5 games. We can't seem to get a rise locally...

If you're playing in a club or store, I think you need to really amp up the terrain. Full lights, etc. Good news is that you're playing on a 3x3, so ~4 big-ish buildings for the street corner in the middle of the table works pretty well. You want tall buildings, too. Probably 3-4 story brownstone apartments, 6+ story high-rises.
I have Arkham Knight Bats and Arkham City Robin, plus a few 1/43 scale Batmobile toys (I can hear the collectors screaming now, I took them out of their packaging!). Want to get the rest of the Arkham "friends of the Bat", Nightwing and Catwoman. Then it'd be Arkham Joker and all his mooks, or maybe Bane and his mooks.
Arkham was a smaller entry point than Dark Knight or Animated Bats.
Still haven't started painting them yet, trying to figure out how to paint Bats with all the different blacks.

We did that. We have complete set of MCSTUDIOs PULP terrain at the FLGS. People are really into either INFINITY, 40K, Warmachines or X-Wing. Not much interest for anything else. Someone is pushing Malifaux. Its getting a better rise then Batman. Too many competing games.
