It makes for punishing board control on both the active and reactive turns. Thamyris can boost the Zayin with Marksmanship L2 and you've got a nice, high B HMG to go hunting with, or to defend without having to worry about cover penalties.
A prone Dactyl and Yudbot can keep the big shinies (Atalanta and Teucer) alive whilst they do Discover/kill duties, and Ajax and the boys can lay down the smoke cover.
All of the specialists, although admittedly the Thorakitai are a bit slow - they can probably trudge up the board unmolested thanks to all the covering fire from the big guns.

First time I used it, Teucer got critted to death in the first 2 orders - but you can't help that sort of thing.

Pick your Achilles based on your preference. Combined orders with Penny, Patroclus and the big man - the rest is just support and specialists for those pesky objectives. I find the Assault Sub Section works best when you focus on the 'Assault' part. Perhaps best reserved for annihilation games.

ODDs and HP1 plus the risk of any one of those three making it into medium/close range makes it tough for the opponent to pick a target. But of course, it's all a bit of a glass cannon if you fall foul of an MSV2/3 wearer with a big gun.

Why 3 link teams? Well, because you can.

Phoenix is your firebase, obviously. Ajax is there to cause a bit of mayhem in the midfield whilst you use the Daleth and the Thorakitai for objectives.

Machaon and the Myrmidon Officer offer a bit of an insurance policy for your Lieutenancy and the Zero-V to move that large hammer up the field.

My quest to use those pretty new models continues.

Yes, the Evo repeater does telegraph that Ekdromoi might appear - but it also allows you to reroll hacking attempts with Scylla. Twin G:Synch heavy flaming repeaters are pretty sexy and I look forward to trying them in anger.
The Dactyl link gives some nice flexibility and order efficiency to the first combat group (of course it also has the triple threat of B2 Flammenspeer, ADHL and Panzerfaust - with 3 specialists)

Group 2 has most of the firepower but with order efficiency to compensate for the lack of orders - they're really there to be defensive with a Spitfire, 2 LRLs and 360 visors all round - but they could push an offensive too.

Just hope there isn't too much MSV2 on the other side of the table...

4 link teams, 8 ODD's, plenty of specialists and no waiting! I might have to try it in an annihilation game one day - but I imagine it could all fall apart very quickly and Ajax without an ODD makes a bit of a bullet magnet.

There's a slight tweak in that you can drop Ajax and downgrade one of the Thorakitai FO's to a standard trooper, and take Eurdorus instead. That means another ODD and a bit more mid-range firepower - plus only one hackable model on the table (your hacker).

Nice concepts amongst all these mate. Im working on Vedic only lists and would love to see your take on that with whats currently available.

Interesting question - I actually only have two Vedic models (a Deva and a Marut) and I haven't played Vedic at all, so my take may be a bit uninformed.

I have however played against vanilla Aleph lists (once as Steel Phalanx) and they have been reasonably effective - it strikes me that what they are missing is any heavy firepower beyond MSRs and Spitfires.

You could make a reasonable list with 3 post-humans, 3 netrods, 3-4 Devas, a Dasyus, a Sophotect and an Asura. Fast, hard-hitting, fully featured. Devas are probably the unit that shine to me in the Vedic list (as it is at the moment) because they have some real variety with WIP 15 to back it up. A sensor Deva or two could really mess up a camo-heavy army's day if used wisely with a few co-ordinated orders, and G:synch devas are like Auxilia on steroids.

Post-humans have lots of flavour but strike me as quirky.

The best tourney lists I have seen have been Naga and Dasyus heavy, taking objectives and spamming mines respectively.

The only time I saw an Asura used, I managed to trap her in speculative fire zero-g smoke and then hammer her to death with Ajax, but I think she would perform nicely outside of that scenario
