MAF - 150 pt starter

Hey guys,

I'm pretty new to Infinity, and I'm having problems trying to fit enough orders into a 150pt force thanks the the expense of the Morat LT. For the moment we'll be sticking with deathmatch style slug-fests, and will move to objective based games as we become more familiar with the rules. My regular opponent will be playing Frenchies, so hacking can take a back foot for the meantime as well.

This list more or less grew by itself. I decided on the Yaogat LT plus a body double as a start. I then needed some cheap order monkeys, so in went a pair of Datz. From there some ranged support was needed, and I do so love the Kurgat Autocannon mini. With 23 points left, the Zerat seemed perfect.
I did consider the Yaogat sniper, but I can't justify the points. Thoughts, or criticism?

MAF like all of the Combined Army is hard to work with at low points. That list is good its got some balls has some shell games for your LT and a couple of hard hitting yet disposable Datz it will work well.

Here is an alternative using a 3 Morat link.

You lose some penetrating power swapping the auto cannon for the MK12 but you keep offensive ability and gain a burst 5 Spitfire link team.

Finally a slight re-tooling to remove the Impetuous Daturazi and make the Zerat more offensive especially against HI, REM or TAG lists.

All of them have their pro's and con's but your original thinking is sound and works well within the limitations of 150 points. Each list is just a touch better at something than the other.

I've found the major problem at small levels for MAF, are the expense of our LT. Especially if you want to be able to hide him somewhat. You're either paying at least 30+ pts for a model that will stand out like the proverbial, or you have to pay through the nose for SWC.

I quite like your suggestion with the 3 man Yaogat link, and it only requires swapping out 2 minis. Our first few games are looking to be sans link teams, but once we bring them in, I promise the Yaogat link will make an appearance. Hopefully we'll up the pt cap ASAP though, because the lack of long range weapons worries me somewhat.

My other thought for small games, was to accept the fact that I'm going to have to drop lots of points on a LT, and go with a HMG Suryat... Having a play around that and a Vanguard link team. Wow, 150 pts is hard.

I'm really not a fan of the CA remote minis, I feel they look out of place against the MAF. Do you find they generally pull their weight?
