USAriadna Flavor List

by Hero of Man » August 4th, 2013, 8:44 am

So I was considering a USAriadna flavor list for getting into playing Ariadna. I thought I'd do this by taking every USAriadna troop choice at max AVA, but I have no experience with playing Ariadna. Honestly, the main reason I want to try this is to have the excuse to buy a bunch of hasselfree miniatures and paint them up as a proxy army, as suggested in one of the old miniatures threads.

I think Van Zante and the Para could really mess up someone's day, and the Foxtrots can cause the enemy some grief early on. I've always loved the idea of tank hunters(may put a Hassle Free rail gun on someone).

The rest I'm not sure of. Uxia's Superior Infiltration is yet another way to harass the back or mid-field, and I'm definitely taking the Minutemen... just not sure on their load out. I think it sounds pretty good, but wanted a second opinion or two before I settled on those Rocket Launcher back packs.

Not to bump, but other than a write up on them in the Official forum, I haven't heard anyone talking about Minutemen, besides the awful sculpt. Still hoping for some advice if this sounds like a fun list. Especially since I've never used Van Zante before.

My thoughts on the Minutemen.

Most people don't talk about them, because they don't really come up too much. They are almost the exact same as the Molbots (which can be used in secratorial armies and have models).

Also they are competing with other models for that slot. Biscards for example, all have MSV 1, and cost 4 points less (although have some lower stats).

It's hard for people to get excited for fielding them when there just aren't any models to try them out with. Although I do like the idea of using hasslefree's stuff for them. How's the scale compare?

Yeah, that's what I keep hearing; hopefully the USAriadna sectoral gets plenty of love next year so I don't have to use so many Minutemen.

From what I've recieved, they're almost perfectly identical. McKenzie is a hair shorter, but that's intentional; scale wise she's a great Uxia proxy.

That being said, I think the Foxtrot Rangers are one of my favorite units in all of Aridana.

I'm a huge fan of infiltrating camo, and these guys are one of the best point for point models in the game (IMO). The models are great to boot. I'm almost always able to fit in the sniper loadout.

I like the LGL one, but the sniper one's cropped pigtails are a turn off for me. I always hear their only negative is that they have to compete with Chasseurs.

Everything competes with the Chasseurs, those guys are all types of awesome. They need some models for them though.

I think I'm going to order the Hasslefree models and try out a minuteman heavy army. Any way you can post a side by side shot of a hasslefree mini with an infinity one?

I have a pretty terrible camera, but for unpainted comparison? Sure, I'll try and get one up tonight. Though I'm at work at the moment, so it'll be a few hours. :P

Left is HF McKenzie, Middle is Carlotta "Harmless When Armless" Kowalski, right is HF Grant. She's about the same height as Grant(who is standing akimbo) and a little taller than McKenzie(who is shorter on purpose). In the background is Cygnar's Win Button.

Thanks! I'll be putting in an order later today.

Hopefully I can get the minutemen to work. Also saw that they have Ghost in the Shell models which would be perfect for my Nomads.

Wolsey(b) makes a great 112, also. Yeah, I really dig on Hassle Free, and their customer service is awesome; I asked about parachute packs(so I can make some Paracomandos) and they're actively looking into it!

Playing around with the idea of using minutemen in my army. Not competitive, but more for fun (my group generally plays 250 points, list experimenting highly encouraged) and based off models I own (hate proxying).

Idea behind it is basically, big group of heavy guys up the front, some skirmishers to harass, and forward observers to grab objectives.

With that many observers it seems a shame to leave out a Traktor Mul, but I understand entirely about the proxying(and not buying the ridiculously expensive Muls).

Then again, I'm considering doing a Stargate Team style army, using a Mul as a FRED with Widow as the Engineer with Control Device.

Yeah, I haven't tried using the Traktor Mul yet. Real life money gets in the way. Plus the local store that stocks Infinity stocks the weirdest stuff ever, so I haven't had a chance to grab it.

Grabbed a few today(three for the minutemen and a couple of the ones based on Ghost in the shell).

For anyone else who's wondering how they compare when painted and close up, I'm not a good painter but it'll give you an idea:

In order:
Chausser, Hasslefree Mini, Line Kazak, Tankhunter

Nice man, for a second I mistook the Chausser as a HFmini. :P
