Vanilla Ariadna 300 pts 20x20

by uzumaki_n » December 7th, 2015, 3:44 pm

WHat do you guys think about this list of Vanilla Ariadna for 20x20 missions.
Because this missions do not require as much specialists as ITS, I had only put minimum of them.

Here are two rosters, which I will test with my friends in near future:
Group 1 10/1

1. 112 (Doctor, Medikit) - Light Shotgun - 12
2. Brigadier Bruant (Inferior Infiltration, Limited Camo) - Molotok, d-charges. - 31, 1SWC
3. Isobel McGregor (Defensive Hacker Device) - Rifle, flash pulse, d-charges, e/mauler - 23, 0.5SWC
4. Dozer (Traktor Mull Control Device) - Engineer, rifle, d-charges - 14
5. Van Zant (Executive Order) - AP Rifle, Heavy Pistol - 39
6. Volunteer - Chain Rifle - 6
7. Grunt (Inferior Infiltration) - Heavy Flamethrower - 11, 0.5SWC
8. Grunt (Inferior Infiltration) - Heavy Flamethrower - 11, 0.5SWC
9. Maverick (Forward Observer) - Smoke LGL - 19, 0.5SWC
10. Traktor Mul (Total Reaction) - Uragan MRL - 18, 1SWC

Group 2 6/3/3
1. Foxtrot (FO) - 18
2. Chassuer (Minelayer) - 20, 0.5SWC
3. Volunteer - Chain Rifle - 6
4. Irmandinho - Engineer, Chain Rifle, Booty L1 - 8
5. Highlander - Chain Rifle - 6
6. Devil Dog Team - Chain Rifle - 30 and (7 K-9 Antipode)
7. Intel Spec-Ops - Line Kazak, Hacking Device, AP HMG - 9
8. Line Kazak - Rifle - 9
9. Line Kazak (LT) - Rifle - 9.

299 Points, 4.5 SWC.

I will explain it a bit.
I am playing since last summer, mostly in Polish tournaments, or with friends.
As this format (20x20) is not heavy of specialist missions I decided to try new things when making my lists.
Then I really like galwegians, Dog team and VZ. This first list has 19 figures, and about 22 or 24 Orders. But,, second group is Impetous heavy, but also in 20x20 even such units can bring me closer to objective points. More over, I will play the missions with my friends, so this list is not to find any hardcore strategy, but to test some new (for me) profiles.
Bruant and two Grunts if their infiltration is succesful can be really close to the enemy. The downside is that Bruant may loose he Camo if fails to infiltrate. Then also, Bruant, Isobel, and Dozer have d-charges which are required in some missions. i could get rid of Dozer, but he lets me to take Uragan, which at close range can be destroy a lots of enemies, while Dozer deployed close can repair it. Mul is also baggage which gives me more points in some scenarios. Maverick is fast moving FO, which can also provide smoke cover, while she also have MSV-1. Volunteers are for cheap order providers and also cover back, and in case of 20x20 can even secure some objectives. Kazaks are als very efficient,, and one is SWC free LT option, and if there are two enemy will have to guess which one is the LT. Then even if I loose in my active LT Kazak I can always deploy VZ, who takes charge. Also, he can be deployed at the back of the enemy lines, or closer to objectives if needed. His Dogged gives him second life, and it can pay off.
Then I have Foxtrot in camo, and Chasseur who provides two camo markers. If Bruant manages to infiltrate, then I have four camo markers really close to enemy and/or objectives (one of them being a mine), while both Foxtrot and Chasseur can also their other mines.
Irmandinho is another impetous order, but for 8 points he is enginner, booty, scavenger and has chain rifle. He can be quite useful, and also can deploy d-charges or detonate them. Then I have galwegian, who provides more smoke cover, and can get quickly to enemy lines if needed. And the big boys Dog Team, since they came out in USARF I always put them to my roster, I am so in love with their design, and posses Sensor which can uncover Camos, and TOcamos. Also, very fast, and order attracting models, and usually their deployment scares my enemys enough. :D

It was the first one, it has many pros, but also some flaws, the biggest being if I deploy badly to stop most of those impetous, but if enemy is not careful this list then wreck a havock in their lines. If you find othe flaws, please let me know.

The second list:
Group 1 10
1. Airborne Ranger - Molotok - 32, 1.5SWC
2. Van Zant (Executive Order) - AP Rifle - 39
3. Brigadier Bruant (Inferior Infiltration) - Molotok - 31, 1SWC
4. Line Kazak - Rifle - 9
5. Uxia McNeill (Covert action) - Specialist Troops, - 27
6. Line Kazak (FO) - Rifle - 10
7. Marauder - Molotok - 28, 1.5SWC
8. Volunteer - Chain Rifle - 6
9. Grunt (Inferior Infiltration) - Heavy FT - 11, 0.5SWC
10. William Wallace - Combi Rifle - 35

Group 2 5/4/4
1. Line Kazak LT - Rifle - 9
2. Line Kazak - Rifle - 9
3. Highlander - Chain Rifle - 6
4. Highlander - Chain Rifle - 6
5. Highlander - CHain Rifle - 6
6. Irmandinho - Chain Rifle, Engineer
7. Grunt (Inferior Infiltration) - Heavy FT - 11, 0.5SWC
8. Volunteer - Chain Rifle - 6
9. Intel Spec-Ops - Line Kazak, Hacking Device, AP HMG - 9

298 Points, 5 SWC.

Bruant and Grunts when successful infiltrated will get close to the enemy. Then there is new addition to the USARF Ariborne Ranger with Molotok, who can be paired with VZ to come as one unit. Or seperated, to surprise the enemy even more. There is Uxia in camo, who can be killer, and also secure objectives. 3 Highlanders will provide smoke cover, and paired with Wallace are big CC threat. Kazaks are for confusing the enemy which one is a LT, and also with Volunteeres can cover back, and if needed go secure objectives. Irmandinho has similar purpose like in previous list. Marauder is very good in active turn, and can get a good position using his Forward Deployment. ANd Spec Ops with AP HMG, when I played him last time in this scenarios, he managed to kill some good troops, only costing me one or two orders.
This one lucks doctor, but I think instead of Kazak FO i can put Paramedic, or even, 112.

Please give Your comments, about how should i play it strtegically, point out some flaws. And if something needs correction in strategy, list or deployment.
:D
Thanks,
uzu

Very cool to see an Ariadna list designed for 20x20. Very interesting for me as i only play Ariadna and a lot of 20x20.

To be honest, my lists are often even lighter on specialists.

I recommend taking a doctor or at least paramedic in your lists because there are quite a few missions were you can deny objective points by healing troopers.

Yesterday I had a good game with a competitive Ariadna group, you can find the profile here:

2 engineers, a forward observer and one doctor. That was because i was playtesting the new mission.

I prefer to base my lists USARF, because I like USA, as I am studying American Studies.
And if I play Vanillia Ariadna, then somehow in my head I need to have at least one model from each sectorial army. So, at least one from Kazaks, Scots, Merovingians and USAriadnians.
Your list seem to be ok, can You just explain how to eficciently use Assault Pack. Because I often use it, even in ITS missions.
I do not know if You noticed but first list has a 112 model. In second I can switch FO Kazak for Paramedic one.

I like Ariadna, and though I played in last 20x20 tournament with USARF, now I wanna try Vanilla one.

Yup, in my local Warsaw Infinity community, becasue we were fed up with all the ITS based tournaments, our Warcor organized one in 20x20 format.
It was treated lightly, mostly to play with lists and rosters. I was last unfortunately, because couple stupid mistakes, but i had fun. And was first time happy that I do not need specialists, and even Volunteer costing 6 points can score a VP. But, our local Ariadna player won, followed by vanilla Yu Jing and Corregidor.

That s it. Next year, I will go to Poland on holidays. Time to play with some serious Infinity players. I need to visit my mother in Germany anyway.

Here in Melbourne, we just had the thought of organizing a 20x02 tournament. And that is with me, the creator. I guess other people play it more than I do, lol.

Who was the organizer? Someone from Data Sphere?

Which missions were played?

As to the antipodes, their motto is seek and destroy. Get the most out of them in your first turn. Their targets are camo markers and if you are very lucky, troopers in hidden deployment.
Deploy the antipodes in a way that they are unlikely to have to super jump on their impetuous order. Get them towards the camo markers, preferably without drawing LoS. Use sensor to reveal the markers. Then you could, if the antipodes are not seen by anyone, recamo or save that order and jump right in, shredding one enemy or two. Remember that an antipode costs 5 points and they are unlikely to make it past turn 1.
This is not that easy to pull off, as the terrain is often against you. The handler is of limited usage, because you need to move the antipodes as impetious before the handler can throw smoke. You could use her later, though. The handler is good anyway, because she gets the smoke grenade launcher for just 1 point.

Antipodes are not impeteous as far as my knowledge goes. They are irregular sure, but that's it. They have frenzy, which make them impetous when they wound someone. But, when you use sensor, you reveal yourself because you roll for WIP. But, I usually loose them after first turn, because they are magnet to the bullets.

Warcor Alkasyn organized it, he is on this forum in Polish section. He was 30th on Interplanetary Tournament in Spain.

You are welcome to come, but normally we also play lots of ITS format, but because it was last tourney in this calendar year in Warsaw we decided to make it in 20x20 format. THere might another on 7th of January, something like that.

Missions were dice rolled before each round (so its hard to make OP lists), I cannot recall exactly which ones, but they were fun :D

AARRGGSS, I have been playing the antipodes wrong in a few games, then! You are right, thx for reminding me!

Very funny that the missions were rolled for in this 20x20 tournament. That was certainly not the idea I had for such a tournament. But I guess it helps to show that the game is about fun and with all that random, competitiveness should take the second place.

if people discover and shoot the antipodes, that is ok as they are cheap. Costs your opponent precious orders to do so.
