Vanilla Pano 300pt - Not afraid to lose initiative

by blooded cat » March 25th, 2013, 9:37 pm

When I was brand new, I dove headfirst into NeoTerra. It was kinda painful - having expensive, shiny toys that could do SO much, if I only I knew how to use them properly.

Since those days I've expanded into Tohaa and learned some new tricks, which taught me a LOT about the game.

I want to bring increased flexibility to Pano and pull off some things that wouldn't have been possible in Neoterra alone... and to surprise the hell out of my regular opponents.

With the minelayers I'm not afraid to take second turn if I need to. That and, I've had a lot of fun using Croq Men/Clipsos to walk up to the edge of a wall and drop a mine that will then have LOF to the enemy hiding on the other side...

(Tangent 1: I've seen some claim that mines can be manually detonated as a skill, but to my understanding they are purely reactionary, but any enemy movement or action [shooting, move due to failed guts, etc] can trigger the mine if I so desire.)

...forcing them in future orders to decide if using an ARO is worth a face full of AP mine.

I'm attempting to maximize survivability here, and so half the list is sporting mimitism or better. This was a direct result of a conversation on the official forums concerning "must haves".

The Sepulchre is for fun/mind games and to keep my opponent on his toes.

This list will primarily be used in YAMS games, which should do well in preventing enemy advancement with the mines/TO surprises.

Thoughts?

I hope I am right: You can't detonate Mines manualy an enemy model needs to be in the ZoC of the Mine to set it off. You can only denote them as ARO. Your Models with Mines can lay them as ARO and when The model activates with next order you can ARO-Detonate the mine into his face.

I play often against a PanO-Player, and he has a hard time against my nomad :nomad: mine/coala/hacking-shenanigans  He said when we play the next time he has some surprises for me  can't wait to see what I am against next.

His Sepulchre-Knight is sometimes really annoying. But be careful, your Opponent might bring two Hackers or Glue or both (which I do sometimes  )

With Mimetism/Camo etc. be carefull of fire templates etc. They can ruin your day :suicide: I know that, Half of my List is often Camo.

But Mines are great fun. Dodge on PH -6, your Opponent is thinking twice before running into a Mine :ninja: (hmmm I think we need an exploding Mine smiley, @Admin ;) )
