Expanding Tohaa from 2XX to ~300 points

Im expanding my TOHAA force to 300 points.
I play already with the starter box and the chaksa. I am thinking about adding gao-rael sniper, gao tarsos and a diplomatic delegate.

Triad composition is as follows:
1. ectros with two kamael one as paramedic.
2. sakiel null field, gao-rael sniper and kamael FO. (i could go for the LI sniper 'nikoul' but i prefer the gao-rael model so will try it first)

The way i see my list is it has a lot of strong points:
*I have GHRL
*Weapons to to punish low bts
*a HMG for full burst reactive turn defense
*defense against hacking with null zones
*2 triads for a bit of order efficiency early on
*whats not to like about AD combat jump HMG with Symbiont ;)
* TO infiltrator with null zone
*a sniper

I expanded my list based on how i would play against myself with my CA. Which is usually charontid LT a few cheap drones and then malignos sniper, shrouded minelayer, speculo killer and a bunch of seed soldiers or caliban and maybe a cadmus or two.

I played a few test games with the tohaa i already have but am mostly experienced with the CA stuff i have.

At this stage im posting this just to double check i havent overlooked something really obvious? Maybe get makaul instead as zero-V smoke would be fun?

Note: All my games are either 'kill everything' or YAMS format missions.

300 points? Almost - you could for example upgrade the Sakiel Null to Sakiel Viral.
6SWC? Check.
More than 7 orders? Check.

Just do it.

Yes being just under 300 points i can vary some of the choices. Sakiel viral i have played and that is a very good idea :)

In summation if there are no glaring problems in this list is good news. Thanks.
I want to go ahead and order these 3 models.
As per usual with infinity its 'me' not my 'list' until i work out how to play better. Which is half of what makes it fun anyway.

I would probably ditch the GHRL chaksa especially as you only have one fo.

I would be tempted to run something a little more like this in a yams format. Whilst the final kamael protects your lieutenant you could easily replace it with another baggage chaksa to minimise your purchases.

I've faced both on the table. I'll just say that the Nikoul is pretty great with with his foxhole, as it lets you put him where you want him and not where the terrain dictates. Aside from model coolness, the biggest factor (for me) is the Gao-Rael's MSV2. MSV2 on a sniper rifle is pretty great. No more hiding from you with smoke grenades, camo, ODD, low-vis zones, whatever.

I've only played against Tohaa, but I can tell you from bitter experience that Makauls are very annoying. Done properly, Zero-V Smoke can let your Triads advance with impunity. Once you get there, you can break the link before your next turn and use their impetuous order to heavy flamethrower something or stab something in the face with a viral CCW. This is particularly devastating if you have a 3-Makaul Triad.

Even if you don't have a 3-Makaul Triad, for the low-low-price of 18/0, you get Zero-V smoke grenades, a heavy flamethrower, and swarm grenades. My regular Tohaa opponent starts every Triad with a Makaul, then kits out the other two slots as he needs them. The smoke gets his Triads where they need to be, set up an HMG burst or a sniper perch, etc etc. Swarm grenades can set up a poor man's MSV2 + Smoke trick, where you chuck one to create a low-vis zone and then have your MSV2 Gao-Rael shoot through it. You can also use it to kill low-BTS stuff *cough* Ariadna *cough* very well. Note that the Makaul's smoke grenades do block MSV2 (and everything else) though, so be careful where you throw them, especially on your reactive turn when you want your sniper online.

I got makaul as my second wave of reinforcments after the initial starter. There ability to block lof is really invaluable. They make toolboxy triads more survivable and specialist triads more versitile. I suggest the makaul band and the gao-rael for every reason kensai said. They can make your enemy sometimes retreat before they even fire a shot.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

I went all out and ordered everything ;)basically being into infinity because of the models AND the game its too hard to resist.

Diplomatic Delegate, gao-rael sniper, gao tarsos, makauls AND the other sakiel. (my evil combined army got a boost too but thats another story)
Im just painting the normal tohaa colours but might do something nifty with makauls.

Yeah, Pokemonitis is an epidemic around here... :P (Says the guy with ~3500 points of Yu Jing, ~500 points of Haqq and another ~500 points of Ariadna, planning ~900 points of Nomads and ... :roll: )

I've been looking at doing an All-symbiont-armor force for my tohaa. First, no bare heads (can't stand the 'talking artichoke' look). Second, 2W on everything. Third, Guyver bio-boosted armor anyone?

One problem with doing that force is that it's only good in a Kill-em-all, only Kotail FOs and Sakiel Paramedics for specialists. The other problem is making it WYSIWYG, too many heavy weapons in the models for right now...
