First ITS tournament Nomad List

by Neuromotor » September 27th, 2015, 3:51 pm

Hey there guys.
So I'll be attending my first ever ITS tournament and I would like to get some insights from more experienced players than me [and I'm a noob at this game with only 4 games so far]. I will have some more games next week to test some lists and to get familiar with missions.
Nonetheless at that time I've prepared few lists for 'objective' games.
Missions we'll be playing are:
-Annihilation
-Cold sleep
-Emergency transmission
-Supplies
-Seize the Antennae
-Lifeblood

First list: 300pts/4SWC/8 specialists

What do you guys think about that? I would really appreciate some ideas how this might work with ITS format.

So far, from my [small] experience I can tell I really like Jaguars as they can cover my backfield with chain rifles and provide smoke for Intruder HMG, also with dogged they seem cool alternative to clear out some threats that march to close to my specialists.
Tsyklon worked well for me as fast flanking weapon platform and as suppressive fire ARO unit with Marksman v2 from HD+.
I have zero experience with Moran.
Spekter was kind of useless in first two games [probably I had no idea how to use him] and I ditched him after that. But now he looks kind of useful with hidden deployment as a last minute objective grabber.
I plan to start game with tomcats on board. Zeros as close to objectives as possible to grab them early on.

You have plenty of specialists which is good.

The lists seem a little light on for orders for my personal taste, but I do tend to prefer more models.

I'd say give it a few plays - if you end up feeling like you can't use all of those models, you might be able to drop a couple for cheaper order generators. There also don't seem to be many Repeaters for your Custodiers - might be able to say drop the 1st Group Tsyklon in the second list for some combo of Meteor, Stempler and/or Transductor Zonds. The Spektr might be a good candidate in the first place to beef up that second group order pool.

I'd definitely try it out some more first though to see where your playstyle finds points of awkwardness in the list.

I really like the first list and I've been building a similar list. Main difference is that I run a bandit instead of the Moran (because I don't own one) and that I like to squeeze in a sniper in the second group to have a second option for long range.

I echo chunky04's thoughts about the second Tsyklon in list two, in my experience I never have enough orders to activate two. Given that you also have an engineer you shouldn't need to bring a second one "just in case", you could do a Meteor since you have enough SWC to spend.
However I really like the Spektr as a specialist, he has good WIP, is hard to hit and can lay mines if has nothing better do do :P You can also deploy him hidden to grab a last objective if you go second.

Do you feel that you have enough "punch" in the reactive turn? That's the only thing that I feel you might be missing, but maybe you have a different plan in mind?

Thank you guys for your thoughts.

As for Tsyklon's. They're both repeaters, they both have markers [as well as Custodier] and hacking is situational at best isn't it? I've been facing Tohaa lists without anything to hack.
I've took second Tsyklon to put it next to objective or good firelane and put it on to suppressive fire with Assisted Fire supportware from Custodier. This will give me some punch in reactive turn. At least that's what I think and that was my plan :)

I have no access to Meteor/Stempler/Transductor. Tsyklons are only rem's I have at this point.

Zero (Minelayer) doesn't count as a specialist right?

As you've said I'll just give them a try and test them in games, this will be best solution.
I'm quite happy there are no obvious mistakes with these lists as they're my first ever try at ITS :)

Sadly the Zero minelayer is not a specialist, but he rocks!

It seems like you know what you're doing, good luck!

Where's your Vortex? It's a Spec Ops event.

Also: are you sure you want Zondbots and not Zondcats? Plain Zondbots would be completely inactive (no Discover, no nothing) until their Tomcat enters the table. (ed: OK I read that you want to start them deployed. But you can start a Tomcat deployed and AD the Zondcat for maximum trolling :v:)

Actually after some thinkering I put in spec-ops into list. This gave me some kind of middle-ground between 1st and second list.
He's a cheap specialist giving me 7 specialists in list with 14 orders.
I'm a bit short on points to include zondcats or even zondbots in this list. I might swap Custodier for Interventor but he seemed to do nothing when I play tested him [and I don't have model yet] so I went with Custodier as she seems to be a bit more resilient.

Dont take Tomcats if You dont wanna use their jump...

If You plan to start them on table pick dactaris + zondbots for Doctor - same WIP, same MOV but cheaper (dont have climbing plus but you can instead put even second zondbot and still it will be chepaer)
For eng go with clockmaker + zondbot - again cheaper, same move and higher WIP 15. :)
