Need some help with Bakunin

Hi all,

All hail the Nomad! :nomad:

Bakunin is my favorit sectorial and I need to admit that I strugle in some matches...
Main concern is a Highlander army of 30 models rusching in .... damn hate Ariadna so much...
The smokes are killing me and because of this I am thinking to run a Vanilla army for the Intruders.

My normal list includes a full link of Morias (+ R. Healer), 2 Sin Eaters, Zeros, Moderators, Spec Ops (don't know how to proper build this guy), Cuscodier.

Can you please share some list that you have success with?

I am thinking of Riot Girls and Murlocks right now (are they any good?)

Well, Riot Grrls are very good. Inexpensive for a HI, and decent stat-wise. However, I wouldn't conisder them againt a horde-based, Smoke-throwing Caledonina army myself.

Morlocks are a good pick though, IMO - cheap Smoke Grenades and Chian Rifles, plus the random bonus of MetaChemistry. Not afraid to get into Close Combat if needed be.They should be doing just fine against the Ariadnans, going toe to toe with them.

As for horde armies, they are a problem, true. Total Reaction / Neurokinetics should help a bit, but they require sufficiently long lines of fire, and will get affected by Smoke. So I wouldn't be putting all my hope in them!
I would, however, invest heftily into Mines - Zero Minelayers, Lunokhod Sputnik + Crazy Koalas, that kind of stuff. Also, Stempler Zond and Meteor Zond - for their ability to discover Camouflaged targets. And Meteor is your only AD troop, capable of intervening along either side edge or directly on the board (AD: combat jump mode). Keep in mind that you'll have to support these with a Hacker for the Augmented Targeting: Shock and denial of Cover could be pretty useful.

Riot Grrl MSV1 is going to help. Put them in a 5-man link and rely on those B2 Boarding shotguns, and never forget all of them are +3 to discover thanks to being in a link team.

Minelayer Zeros will help a bit as a midfield speedbump. Put down 6 Camo tokens (3 mines), and the moment they give you an ARO opportunity, lay mines in ARO. In your active turn, remember you can intuitive attack with mines against camo markers.

Use supportware on a reaktion zond to at least give you Marksmanship L2 and ignore cover (plus, shock ammo helps). B4 in ARO at only a -3 penalty to hit is not that bad and you may get some easy kills.

If you can get a first turn, try a Lizard + HGL and speculative fire the crap out of his camo markers. With 30 models on the table, odds are you are going to hit a lot of them with each shot that lands.

Likewise, a Moira with E/M LGL is going to give you chances to isolate his models - even his lieutenant.

Bran Do Castro is a fair shot at an assassination on William Wallace or any other obvious lieutenant if he's going to field him.

If this is more than just an annihilation game, obviously - try and mix a reasonable amount of that lot in with some specialists.

The HGL trick is a rare one to be able to pull off - only two models in the whole game have them now and one of them's the Lizard. Flamethrowers are your friend, especially on camo infiltrators to get them upfield Try using deployable repeaters from Zeros and markers, spotlight targets and then speculative fire:-
