Corregidor + Qapu Khalqi

Fellow gamers!

My extensive painting efforts for my mates have given me the opportunity to expand my forces. I currently own about 200-300 pts of Corregidor models. You're looking at Wildcats, Hellcats Tomcats, an Intruder, an Interventor and a Lunokhod.

So obviously I want an Iguana, next.

I was thinking that after that I could look into QK. That sectorial contains pretty much all the Haqqislam models I love. And I can continue with my mercenary theme, which I love a lot.

Thinking that over, though, I fail to see how I can start off QK, throw in an Iguana and still make a solid list. Do you guys think buying the starter is the way to go?

You might be better off buying the Kaplan box and a Kaplan spitfire:

...which is basically a Corregidor merc force using the Qapu Khalqi rules instead of the Corregidor ones.

That said, the QK boxed set is excellent and if you like the faction you'll end up wanting to get all those models, anyway.

That's the exact opposite of how I got into playing Corregidor.

And I agree on the boxset, though sadly I already own the Al'Hawwa and Djanbazan Sniper, so gonna have to buy the rest blisters.

QK Starterbox is a solid set, together with the vanilla starter box. =) then you can buy a Odalisque pack (to accompliment the spitfire odalisque in the starter) and you got something to really hit the table with. Buy some Djan's as well, just for some hard hitting buffed up guys. Voila! QK. =) Add a Iguana to your own liking.

EDIT: might seem alot of units, but don't forget; you get 3 hafza's, so you could use some of them for holo-projector shenanigans!

I don't have any Alguacils and I don't plan on buying them until they get a resculpt. Maybe I could get the Vanilla Starter and proxy Ghulams as mercs. I do love the look of the Kaplan, but Hafza holo-tricking has got to be one of the coolest rules in the game.

Starter doesn't really have a solid link in it, though? Unless you do Hafza's + Odalisque or something?

Hafzas plus odalisque or hafzas plus djanbazan are both solid links. The starter plus a djanbazan HMG blister gives you a five-man link. The starter plus an odalisque box gives you a five-woman link plus a 3-woman haris link:

In general, if you want to play Hafza tricks, you definitely want the starter because all three hafzas come with it.

That's why I said, buy the Odalisque box ;p or invest in some Djan's to go with the sniper. I felt Hafzas were pretty mandatory with the point costs of some other models to make a good, 5-man link. And the Haris skill in the Odalisque gives you a 'free' 3-man link as well so I think it is one of the most versatile and best ways to start.

Hafza holo-tricking has got to be one of the coolest rules in the game.

Just remember its only a trick if you can 1 pull it off and 2 don't use it as a crutch and always build your list around it.

Fail either and you're predictable and paying an extra 7 points or more for the Hafza for no real reason.

Hafzas only cost 4pt over a Ghulam.

Apart from Holo1 those four points get you:
+1 BS.
+1 ARM.
Ability to join any QK Fireteam.

As far as I'm concerned, Holo1 is free on these guys.

I love that list, Hulka. Just looks a little squishy. What kind of tactics would you play?

I've never played this list because I don't have the Odalisque box (I use proxies for a Haris and SMG, and I have the spitfire from the starter set). I just wanted to show what a starter + Odalisque box would give you.

I actually think that list is very un-squishy, since Odalisque are kind of light heavy infantry with their NWI. And it's got a TAG. If I were to play it, I'd probably change the Lieutenant to the spitfire, and then I'd upgrade both rifle Hafza to Forward Observers. I'd then probably deploy the five-man (woman) link in the middle, with the two Hafza rifles playing the part of sniper, long lanes of fire, etc. Burst 2 flash pulse at +3 WIP would be my sniper rifles. I'd use that as a static firebase, with the spitfire lieutenant safely tucked away. Then I'd have the Haris team with a spitfire on one side and the TAG on the other. I'd use those two combat elements aggressively. The Iguana I'd bee-line for their nastiest unit and (hopefully) surprise the heck out of them by stopping just short of attacking and combat-camo hacking with the Hawwa instead, right through the Iguana's repeater. Then I'd just react each combat element to however the battle unfolds.

And oh yeah, the two girlies in the 5-man link I'd give 360 vision. The three in the Haris link I'd give sixth sense 2.

Was having a derp moment and thinking Ghulams come in at base 10 points but that is of course the Naffatun (which don't feature in QK come on new sectorial with linkable Naffatun) no the Ghulams have the stupid shotgun tax take makes them an unhealthy 13 points.
