What miniature would best represent a Father-Engineer Machinist?
Is there some conversion that you have done that made them stand apart?

I haven't done that exact one 9not playing PanO myself) but I'd suggest starting off an Order Sergeant rifleman (the one who's not running not having just taken a big step roward...) or Indigo spec op.
Easiest way - just give him a diferent colour scheme. Complicating things, I could suggest - a different head (probably bare, likely bearded), a green stuff tabard (if working off an Indigo), a tool / hand-held computer (Indigo again), some tools or supply boxes / tool boxes on the base. You can also festoon the model with extra equipment pouches if you like that style.
A damaged vehicle / part of it on the base would be cool, butit would be difficult to fit something like that on a 25mm base and not make it look crowded.
