by Pacific » May 1st, 2013, 9:37 pm

THIS EVENT HAS NOW BEEN RESCHEDULED SAT 6TH JULY, SEE BOTTOM POST

Image

Hey guys!

Just to announce an event that myself and a friend are running at the Total Wargamer store, near Evesham (UK) on Saturday 18th May.

Some details about the event:

Image
Infinity Event - The Moebius Incident.
A Campaign event with chilling narrative, come play on specially constructed Cityscape and Mercenary Outpost boards. Beginner or veteran, all welcome!

Force Size: Both 150pt and 300pt lists if possible, or just 150pts. Forces also provided and available for use on the day if necessary.

The Games: A series of narrative games with a competitive edge, based on missions specially adapted for this event.
The event starts at 12pm, with games lasting approximately 1 hour - 80 minutes.
Starting times are around 12pm for game 1, and 2pm for game 2 (with the possibility of a 3rd depending on demand!)

Exciting missions to play with a chilling (really!) narrative running through the event; come and find out what the Moebius Incident is, and if you can survive it!

Terrain includes a specially constructed cityscape made especially for Infinity, and a mercenary base with games played across both boards.

The Place
Total Wargamer, near Evesham: http://www.totalwargamer.co.uk/blog/?page_id=111
As I've said before, this place is a real little Aladdin's Cave, with a wide selection of miniature games - well worth the trip to see regardless of anything else!

The Games
Check out the bottom of this post on the Infinity forums for pictures of our previous event - and the terrain collection has grown somewhat since then!
http://infinitythegame.com/forum/index.php?/topic/12425-infinity-introductory-event-total-wargamer-evesham-south-west-uk-saturday-octob/

And and all welcome at this event and any questions please add a post below, or send me a PM!

Yes mate! One of the games will involve a games master, the other will involve just another player playing as the 'antagonists'
(I don't want to give away any more than that at this point though, to keep the surprise for the day :) )

Another little poster I've made up for the event, which will be positioned in the Total Wargamer store

This Saturday's event is now cancelled... :(

Sorry guys, due to health issues we are going to have to cancel this Saturday's event.

My sincerest apology to anyone who had already made plans to take time off and travel this weekend to the store. Unfortunately, there is no way around it and for the event to go ahead.

Hopefully we will have an update soon, and re-schedule for the near future (at this point we are postulating some time in June).

Apologies again,

Graham

Well Total Wargamer didn't advertise it so my mates and myself wouldn't have come. I hope you feel better.
Might be worth contacting Worcester Wargames. A new Independant store that's opened in Worcester and I bet they would love you to come down and demo some games

Hey guys, cheers for the comments; we're currently planning for a return to TW soon but would definitely be up for taking the event to other places as well!

When we've got a firm date will post the details here! Kahunadave, where do you normally read the TW adverts (on their facebook page?)

They have everyone's email address and send out a promotional letter every week but nothing was mentioned. Same with a recent attempt at a war machine tournament. I only heard about it from a forum post posted on the Worcester Wargamer site a week before.
They don't seem to either be or organised or care about wargaming. They are primarily interested in selling magic the gathering.

Once again no advertising done by TW. Only just happened to look otherwise I would never known. No one one from any of my my gaming groups in Worcester and the surrounding area will attend as they won't know either. Lads TW are a waste of space, perhaps look at other clubs and stores in the future. Would like to attend next time

Well thanks for the heads up mate in any case.. :(

I've done a fair bit of advertising around different forums and a few clubs (think I did try and sign up to the worcestor wyverns forums but couldn't get authorisation! )

Was hoping to make TW as a kind of hub for Infinity (there are no other stores south of it now, as far as I know) but will have to see how it goes!

Cheers man, event was quite fun but not a lot of turn-out unfortunately. Don't think the very hot weather helped, or me being a bit remiss in advertising it (think I need to do a bit of research and advertise with local clubs next time)

(sorry for the quality of the pics, really should remember to take a camera to one of these things!)
- The setting was the colony planet of Acontencimento - a Praxis labs biological research facility (inside a military base) has completely dropped off the net. Local spec-ops teams have been directed to investigate and download data from a terminal in the base, detailing the contents of what research has been taking place. This mission had an alpha priority - all troops expendable!

Image

With 4 players (2 per team) both teams had to make their way to a control terminal on the centre of the board..
Image

as they arrive they notice strangely deformed bodies lying near the control panel..
Image

One team arrives, taking cover behind some of the buildings.. both teams then proceeded to knock the crap out of each other and completely ignoring the actual objective! :)
Image

An SAS trooper finally makes it to the panel, but the moment the data was downloaded, the deformed bodies around the terminal stirred and rose to their feet! Even such a seasoned soldier as the SAS trooper, despite taking down a couple, was overwhelmed and knocked to the floor!
Image

To their horror the SAS trooper, infected by the virulent nannites of the 'zombies' rose to his feet again and proceeded to attack his former colleagues.. Eventually the one side managed to prevail, downloading the data and escaping while all the while fighting off the nannite-hordes..

Part two (and the second mission) coming up..

Great, I will try and do a better job of advertising the next one.. !

We're hoping to start alternating between different events, beginner events/narrative events/ITS, and to increase their regularity to every 4-6 weeks.

Some photos from the second mission in the event (once again apologies for quality)

The story for this one is that '28 days later' the nano-virus has spread to the nearby district of Nueva-Catalunya. Priority communiques from the Aleph AI have advised that 'containment measures' will be taken in a matter of hours; the city is lost, but there is some chance that some of the civilian populations can be saved. Local ops-teams are called in, and in a rare show of co-operation Yu Jung (a 'Japanese' sectorial) and Haqqislam forces join together to help defend an evacuation point.

The nannite hordes are closing in from all sides, the soldiers present must try and protect those civilians who are still alive!

A couple of civilians run through a road block, infected on their heels.. (we had some special rule changes for the civilians.. this very fat guy had 'no wound incapacitation, a couple of security guards with pistols, an old woman with move 1-1 :) )
Image

A karaoke hostess and office worker run down the street.. A NAffatun and Karakuri shoot past them.. later on some desperate shots into combat would result in civilians accidentally being shot (perhaps put out of their misery!)
Image

A Yu-Jing trooper puts down suppressive fire over the heads of a foolhardy journalist team.
Image

Hope you liked the pictures guys, and sorry there weren't more of them! If I do see any pics taken from others at the event, I will post them here.
