Dumpster Divin'

Came up with these as an April Fool's Joke for the guys playing in our Paradiso Campaign. Thought you guys might get a chuckle out of them:

In addition to all other special terrian for each mission, scatter or take turns placing 3 Dumpsters

Note: The following is for Paradiso dumpsters. Dumpsters on other planets will likely contain other items. Any troop in base contact with a dumpster may dive with a long order and a successful WIP check. Place a filth marker on a model that has made a dive. It gains I-khol 1 and faces a -3 to the WIP check for further dives. Filth markers are cumulative. Failing the WIP check within the failure category has the following effect: the troop must make a PH check or be stunned for the rest of the turn by uncontrollable vomiting.

Out of pity for the poor soul forced to search trash for equipment, no ARO may be declared against a dive except CC.

Dumpster Dive
1: Banana Peel. Fruit Mine. No Damage, Ph-6 or fall prone.
2: Cardboard box 1 use. Spend a short skill of an order when out of LOS of all enemy troops to gain CH: Limited Camoflage.
3: Tzechi Take Out Box, with leftovers. No effect.
4-6: Broken Umbrella, gain a DA CCW
7: Discarded murder weapon. gain a pistol.
8: Discarded murder victim. May be consumed by troops with Striga.
9: Funky Shoe. gain a Viral CCW
10-11: Lose your comlog. Become Irregular, lose LT status if LT & army enters LoL. Also, enemy army LoLs at you.
12: Find a comlog. Cease being irregular. Continue being disgusting.
13-14: Half a pint of rotgut booze. No effect.
15: Wake the Hobo. Place a hostile civvie in base contact with the diver. You must attempt to sync or escape CC on your next order. +6 to the sync roll if you have half a pint (or more) of rotgut booze. If you fail to sync, Hostile civvie attacks with CC 13, I-khol 2, and a shock CCW. The Hobo is immune to i-Khol.
16-17: Wicked sweet lid that's totally still good and no one should have thrown it out, Dude. +1 ARM for the first hat. +1 cool points for any additional hats.
18: Stuck in the dumpster. Gain an extra filth marker and make a climb check to get out.
19: Paradiso Truffle. Delicious.
20: Paradiso Cartilage-Eating Tick Swarm. Troops with W are reduced immediately to the dead state. Those Ticks are mean man. Troops with STR suffer no effect.

Made some changes after talking with the guys at the friday night firefight.

I love the idea, I'd change a few details though:
- apply BTW to filth WIP rolls - dumpster diving is much easier when you're in a gas mask
- why should STR units foll for filth? They're mechanical, they don't care. If it makes mechanicals OP, maybe add a result or two that hurts them worse than organics? "Hey I found a rare capacitor model! And it's still working!" *bzzt* roll for E/M :) that should also reward Ariadna for not having BTS
- I'm not convinced about roll 20, outright dead? I think it would work better if it just inflicted an automatic wound/reduced to unconscious maybe?
- What does "stunned" mean in the game mechanics? Immobilized? Blind & Immobilized? Cannot take actions (what about AROs)?

And I'm definitely going to play this scenario :mrgreen:

I love the idea and execution. It`s like a funny loot system that can be great fun.

The intent was an 'outrages from the mages' kind of silly thing. Not intended to be balanced for competitive play.

Paradiso filth is just too nasty for a gas mask. Your only defense is the strength of your stomach.

Same reason remotes die to Viral ammo.

Couldn't finish that take out last week?
Did it eventually gain sentience and grow into a space artichoke?
Has it taken up residence in your bin and preventing you from tossing your trash?

Then you need: Hobo-be-gone*! The only hobo deterrent system approved by the Concillium Council!

*Hobo-be-gone is is trademark of the Lawk, Smeth, and Sons Corporation. Hobo-be-gone is not guaranteed to work against all hobos. Usage of Hobo-be-gone is not recommended for persons under the age of 13. Hobo-be-gone is not to be ingested unless you are an inhabitent of Ariadna. When in doubt kill it with fire.
