Hello from Midwest, US!

Afternoon everyone! Like many others I find myself staggering over from the CB forums after one last drunken brawl at the old place.

I'm from the Midwest of the US (southern Illinois actually) where I lead a small group of folks who enjoy a regular Infinity addiction. You'll see me around the Nomads bits most likely but I'm sure I'll wander about a bit between rules, hobby aspects, and some other factions (Haqq, ALEPH, and CA).

Well, see everyone around and I'm happy to have found a new home! :toot:

Nice to see another person from Illinois. I mainly play in Springfield, but since I've become a warcor, I've been travelling all over lately. I was down at Game Nite in St Louis a few weeks ago and I've got a group starting in Washington, IL. Where about do you play at?

I mostly play in Edwardsville, IL. I'm trying to get more support at the local shop (Heroic Adventures) as well as their other shops in O'Fallon and Belleville. I play over in St. Louis too when I have time to drive over there.

We've talked before over on the Infinity forums :-) I also think you've been chatting with a buddy of mine (Miniature Tim).

Good to see more Illinois players. Being from the other side of southern Illinois originally it's nice to know the game is picking up all over the state. After the group in champaign and Washington get going steady maybe we can start talking about getting some tourneys going?

From talking to various players, from the central part of the state on down, we have the potential for about 20-30 players here.

Hey folks! Glad to see central & southern Illinois representing!

It would be nice if we could get them all organized once or twice a year. We have a couple good conventions down in this part of the state and I know a littler further south they also hold the convention in or around Carbondale.

It's also possible to poach players from St. Louis. There are a couple communities there as well (Game Nite and Fantasy Shop).

I've been making some trips to Game Nite. They said there are around a dozen players in the area, which they had for an escalation league. Just have to have get them to come there regurlaly. I'm almost thinkin of seeing about quarterly tournaments at Game Nite. They have 10 tables to set terrain up on. Just need to fill them up.

I have enough terrain for a table, maybe two depending on what your stance is on terrain density.

Tim (from Miniature Tim) is making his own terrain and could probably crank our more if others are willing to go in on the cost. 6-7 tables worth might be too much to ask for with that but I'm certain we could get 2-4 tables worth.

I'd be more than willing to assist with quarterly tournaments (or more regular events). I've been talking with a few people about holding regular events in the area and we could have you come down when you are able for "official" WarCor support. I need to talk to the owners at Game Nite and the shops closer to me (Heroic Adventures and Fantasy Books Incorporated).

As Angron said Chicago has a tourney every month but I would like to see something closer to central Illinois like in Springfield or something. If it helps out I have a scientific outpost style table. It is spartan scenics mdf terrain. I have the room set the corridor set and the doors set. It covers a 4x4 board but I want to add some cargo containers and wall sections to give even more cover on the board.

I've always wanted to play on a corridor table... like a boarding action on a spaceship. Seems pretty epic to me.

So sometime after GenCon I think we should all get together (I'll bring Tim) and plan out an event (or events).

I'll be there, mainly working in the Infinity area of the miniature hall. My days will mainly be split up between one of the referees at the tournaments and teaching the intro games there.

Sadly, the game stores in Springfield are not the greatest for having an infinity tournament. The main one I'll play it, we would probably have a hard time. The owner almost doesn't care unless you're playing a GW game. Then he's happy to talk to you. Otherwise, you're just about ignored. There is some room at one of the other stores, but maybe only about 4 or so tables. The other complication is that I work second shift Tuesday through Saturday. I have to plan off the time in advance so they can post OT for me to be off.

I will likely not be at GenCon but my buddy Tim will be. I think he has plans to meet up with Reddragon76 already.

Nonetheless, if I'm at GenCon (slight chance) I'll gladly meet up with anyone and everyone.
