So I took a metaphorical drive over to the Data Sphere to check the neighborhood out. Looking good. Hopefully more will settle in the area.
Like most 40k gamers, I was burnt out and disenchanted. I began to look for alternatives, but at this point in my life, times were lean. I just couldn't get into Warmahordes because I disliked the background, and gameplay. I also dislike that I have to purchase squads worth of models to make a meaningful force. In 2011, I was at a local gaming store and they were playing Infinity. I got a demo game in and really liked it. The skirmish aspect, the gameplay, and the economy of purchasing a starter box and a few blisters caught my fancy. However, I still wasn't sold.
In my usual group at the time, another gaming buddy was starting a Necromunda league but used Infinity figures instead. I suppose he was smitten by the figures and eventually the Infinity rules. He scrapped the Necromunda league and started demoing Infinity. Needless to say, we were hooked. We bought starter sets of the factions of out choice and started out cranking games. Our group then attracted another bunch of players and the game became a fixture at that store.
Now that I'm somewhat settled, I branched out into another faction but had less time at the gaming store. I neglected my Infinity buddies for a time but recently I have been reconnecting with them. I even entered my first tourney at the Warstore Event back in October 2012. Now, with a year worth of experience, I'm demoing Infinity at another store trying to get more gamers into the fold. It's a bastion of 40k and Warmahordes however, but hopefully with persistence and stubbornness, I can make Infinity grow and flourish in another venue.
