Just noticed this forum so thought I'd sign up.

My local gaming group has just moved to a new venue and opened it's doors to be public, so we thought we'd kick off Infinity with a campaign and tournament. I've been playing on and off for about 6 months and got to say I'm loving it.

So how do gaming groups work in England? Do you ave to pay a fee? Do you have a dedicated location to play?

The English club system (which we seem to have inherited) is usually a club location like a public library or a sports club (which means ready access to beer and chips) and a membership fee, which usually is spent on terrain. In South Africa there's a lot of FLGS supporting the action too.

A club system might come in handy when Brick and Mortar stores fall to online business and direct sales from companies. That's my biggest fear here in the states. Basement crusading is not my idea of social gaming.

there's no flgs in the area, there were 2 but they seem to have stopped selling minis.

there's at least 10 gaming groups i can think of within 15 miles, it depends on what games you play and what night they meet. ours started as a warmachine group.

we charge £2 a night, which is fairly average. the larger clubs tend to be cheaper but it seems to hinge on what deal they can make with the venue.

Hello and welcome. We in the States don't really have the club system and that's too bad. I think its been holding gaming back to a certain extent.
