Thoughts on Red Veil?

Besides the fact that it finally means I can start playing Haqq, old starter was all that was holding me back, I'm really digging the new style of card building.

Well, it definitely makes it harder to combat Pokemonitis :D

I really like the direction they took both armies into, though YJ troop look very similar now.

It is much nicer than Icestorm. The minis look better (Of course as a Haqq player I would say that. The Al Fasid is the weakest mini in the box too. :'( ) I have no interest in playing Yu Jing, but those minis look like fun to paint. And that Ninja looks like a bronze from a Roman fountain or something, with that pose. Classic. Awesome. The terrain looks better than Icestorm's. However, it would have been nice if the playmat was 2'x4', no?

I'm debating whether to pre-order ( and get the Yuan-Yuan. I play QK so it is definitely a useful addition) or wait and just get the Haqq box in January.

About the wallet:
http://www.thewarstore.com/product109109.html for $86.99 plus S&H
http://www.miniaturemarket.com/cvb280010-0595.html for $82.49 plus S&H ( no S&H if the order is $100 or more)
http://www.gamenerdz.com/infinity-opera ... s-preorder $69.97 and no S&H charge

I've pre-ordered from Miniature Market. They are reliable. I hear that Gamenerdz is reliable. In either case, you would get your box 10-15 days after you would with a Warstore order.

I hope the scenarios are somewhat different from those in Icestorm. I gather that they probably are not.

The minis look ace, the terrain is good and I like the step by step learning guide. Great that players get all the necessary tokens.

What I don t like about the box is that CBs marketing ideas seem to get out of hand. The most ridiculous one is the bundle. If you buy Red Veil and Musashi, you get the Unknown Ranger for free! So you buy the starter sets for 2 factions and a model only usable in a sectorial of one (yuan yuan). Plus 2 models for the same character only usable in a sectorial for the other faction. The models in the red veil box, however, are all incompatible with JSA. To top it all, you buy this bundle in order to get a character for a third faction!

Are Ariadna players really supposed to buy all those models they don t need in order to get the better looking version of the Unknown Ranger? That would be pretty ridiculous. The Ranger looks awesome, but I will not start 2 factions just to get him.

Like icestorm, it really comes down to whether or not you like either factions' starter in it.

I like the terrain. It's improved from the older stuff.
Of the miniatures, only the ninja really stands out for me (never really wanted to start YJ vanilla or ISS OR Haqq vanilla, tbh - and this changes nothing).

That said, it's a mini I can live without having done my own conversion already. The Yuan Yuan could be useful in my QK, but I already have more of them than I can use for that army anyway.

Yes, and next you buy TAGs, CB dixit in video. It seems it worked with Icestorm (in some places at least).

Both Icestorm forces are great with their TAGs. Both Haqq and YJ have their strengths in LI and HI. Their TAGs are super standard.

The next comments talk about TAGs not being useful for the new box, but also for other factions in N3 (some meta/ITS bias?), and thus "bookshelf filler". Then someone points that TAG surprise can be a big surprise due to lack of preparedness induced by "bookshelf filler" thinking. And by next page there is N2 ("TAGs as unstoppable killers") and specially Exrah yearning, with song suggestions & versioning included. If you ever heard Bostria start a talk with "fucking money", maybe it was triggered by one of the videos.

Edit: wrong prepositions and such.

Lets skip that part, then.
I understand that it is way easier to advertise a single great looking model rather than a number of other useful ones. I loved how BoW then also advertised the humble Warcor.
Forgive me, as an Ariadna player I am obliged to dismiss the idea of TAGs. :ariadna:

Unless our idea of "TAG" is a plate armoured Dog Warrior / Devil Dog, of course :3:

Well, then, in few words, yes, you are supposed to buy all them, all factions, all models, multiple times. And also mouse pads and mugs for all your house and office uses (not kidding, just saw the news). Is this the "jumped the shark" moment? :curious:
