Hey everyone,
I recently backed the Last Saga kickstarter to use the Council minis (the human faction) as a Merc Company in Infinity due to the similarities their weapons have to Nomad weapons. The original idea was to use them as PanO proxies, but this moved into using multiple factions in a similar manner to the old N2 Merc company rules. I’m not longer a fan of that idea and want to create 2 custom units with a PanO theme.
My intention is to create something fair, fun and for friendly games when we feel like playing something with a bit of narrative. Can you guys please help me make 2 non-OP profiles with a PanO vibe?
Firstly, 4 of the current 7 units that they have made/are making models for I’ve been able to fit into existing PanO profiles:
1) Council Fusiliers > Fusiliers
2) Council Tactical Officer > Bagh Mari
3) Council Phantom > Croc Man
4) Council Manticore > Orc troops OR Guarda de Assaulto
Here's what those guys look like.
One of the units, the Dragon, is a Tag. Along with not getting it I have no intention using it. So I won’t be doing anything there.
The two profiles I need help with are the Black Crow and the Commando.
Council Black Crow
In the Last Saga rules these guys have:
• HMG or a sniper rifle
• Can be upgrade to have smoke and frag grenades
• Basically AD combat jump
• An equivalent to mimetism
• Multi-terrain
• The ability to go on suppressive fire (which I’m just going to ignore)
They also have similar arm to the Fusiliers.
So I was thinking with these guys basing them on the Ariadna ParaCommandos, as a unit with AD and an HMG. However I need to change the loadouts and change the stats a bit…how would you make that unit feel more PanO? I don’t want to give them combat jump because the model actually has a parachute, and I want it to fit into the role of coming in from the side and proving ARO coverage for friendly troopers.
I was thinking drop the WIP to 12, give it a cube, and replace the rifle with combi and the sniper rifle with MSR, what sort of change to points do you think that would cause?
Council Commando
In the Last Saga rules these guys have:
• An assault rifle (I’m calling it an SMG because there are also battle rifles in this game), or a boarding shotgun, flame thrower, HMG, grenade launcher
• Can be upgraded to have basically a panzerfaust, smoke and frag grenades
• They also have “camo” which I think means mimetism in their rules, infiltration and the equivalent of multi-terrain
Also based of their concept art all I can think about Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid. So I’m trying to create a a profile that acts as an infiltrating, close range, specialist, be it hacker or the “specialist” rule. I kind of want it to have D-charges as well, give it that elite commando vibe that can go in, achieve an objective, set up some charges, and then get out. If going along the lines of Solid Snake too, maybe even scavenger and a slightly higher CC value for that knife. Finally, I want these guys to be close range, so boarding shotgun or an SMG, giving you the option of either low burst high damage or the ability to go on suppression fire.
Originally I was thinking of using these guys as the Haqqislam Al Hawwa. If I were to PanO it a bit, increase BS, decrease WIP, drop the sniper rifle profile, add an SMG profile and give them a cube and scavenger, what sort of points would that be?
