I dont see there being an issue to be able to discuss Infinity across multiple forums. Between the official one and DS, we should cover all of the terrain makers, and have different places for people to congregate depending on their preferences.

I like the fact that Datasphere is more heavily moderated than the CB forums, means I can come here and read the forum and not have to be as concerned by a whole host of whinging and bitching. I just hope that CB see the need to better moderate their forum to improve the mood over there, and weed out all the unnecessary stuff that gets posted.

1. I see that CB is not a mature company that makes decisions and wheights concequences of their actions. How can I trust them now? Would the prices rise? And again? Would they go PLASTIC?!! No? Are you sure?

2. This realy splits community. I realy doubt that persons leading community would hold logs on both forums (besides personal blogs and other common miniatures/terrain platforms). Also I doubt that ppl who are not professionals in this hobby (I mean shop/club owners, terrain makers and comission painters) would spend twice the time they needed before to keep in stream on both forums.

3. Ppl made an effort to move their stuff here and now it turns that they just wasted their time. It realy discourages.

Ironically they just announced a price increase as well. This is the third one since I have started playing the game.

I'd say just pick a main forum and occasionally check the other. That's what I do: I post most of my stuff here (obviously), especially now that we have had a good increase in traffic (more people to weigh in on conversations).

But you know... I also check the Warcor forum over at CB and I'll roam through their news section for those spicey, unmoderated speculation threads.

Yeah, that's a DOUBLING in the raw materials cost for metal in the last 5 years, and tripling since the 1990s. Not much choice but to raise prices when the markets do that to you.

I usually get my news from multiple sources.
One more forum doesn't make a whole lot of difference to me. If there's less "sexual dismorphism and objectification of extra-terrestrial land gastropods" threads on this one, then all the better.

I agree that I do like the end result of the official forum staying open, but it was a rather rocky road to get there. I don't care for how things progressed, but they seem to have worked out in the end. Plus, more activity here, and more interest on my part have given me another place to ramble on about the game! I'll primarily be on the official forum, but I'll surely browse here at least every few days (or more often, most likely).

I am sorry for those who put in effort moving things over, but at least more people have/will see the work, which is beneficial. On the other hand though, why wouldn't everyone wait until the forum was read-only so they knew they could get everything without changes? I don't mean that as criticism, but that was my plan for the remainder between Aug and Oct.

Multiple reasons: Wanting to have plenty of time to do it, do it a slow constant pace. Avoiding the last days rush. Holidays and other important things. Seeing how things got "solved", "read-only" could have been "no login", and thus no attachments and some sections.

Its great to have a single Official forum, now whether its hosted by CB or Data-Sphere matters little as long as the Infinity website has links to that forum. Obviously that forum needs to work and I think if CB identified a problem they can't manage then moving the official forum link to somewhere else is smart.

The question is If all the traffic the CB Forum is getting was moved to here would Data-Sphere be able to handle it?

I guess I just don't know what the issue is that CB is having but hosting is relatively easy to move around.

We stayed online and operating during the GenCon seminar, while the official forum went down a couple of times due to traffic. I don't think we'll experience a peak like that anytime soon.

They also removed the search (Warcors link & logo now) in the front page of the site, that one that had funny results sometimes (I remember searching something about PanO TAGs and getting Sforza or some other guy). So the machine(s) should have less work to do.

At least it can still serve the error page and quick, no eternal wait to get nothing.
