The Q-Workshop dice are unreadable at distance, in my experience. Attractive dice though.

Exactly my point, which is why I don't use these.
But if someone really wants custom faction dice, I'm sure they'd be up to the task - make hard-edged d20s with clearly readable numbers and a faction logo as 1.

Well, it never hurts to be sure, does it? Though once we're at it, I'd rather have them just lead-cast without that steel jacket, and encase a number of them in explosive.

Also, at what stage is the tumbled dice irregularity statistically relevant? Is it really a concern if over 1000 throws a 6 is going to come up one more time than it should?

Well, you need to throw about a thousand times just to get enough data points to start talking about statistics, but tumbled d20s vary better than a full percentage point across 10k rolls. That is, tumbled d20s will have individual faces/results showing up between 400 and 600 times (or more), when they should be rolling between about 485 and 515 (or an even smaller variance) for any given result.

To translate that back, on 20 rolls, you could be rolling one more or one less of any given number than you 'should'.

I actually have some of those semi-precious stone dice, yellow and green jade. They're technically machined, but whoever did it (Dwarven forge?) didn't get the D20s properly square.

And a friend of mine (Olaf the Hungry on the Infinity forums, he hasn't been on in a long time) actually made me a no-joke silver d20 as part of his Art Metals classwork. It's dang near one ounce of silver, and it's a small d20. Like a 12mm. I have horrible luck with d20s, they never roll well for me. I no-joke went 6 months of a weekly D&D game (4-6 hours a session) without rolling above a 15. That silver d20 does roll nicely. It's almost too heavy, actually, you can count the rolls after it leaves your hand.

Don't know what I did to the lady of the dice, but she is well and truly p****d at me, and has been giving me the cold shoulder for a very long time.

Seriously, you could give me an impossibly-well machined casino dice made out of an inert material and I could roll it in a lead-lined vacuum chamber deep underground (so not even the CMB radiation could influence the roll) and I will still roll high in WIP checks, low in ARM rolls. My dice luck is reknowned in the local infinity group for just how sucky it is.

So I've got a half dozen of the pink-and-purple 'toxic' dice (manufacturer is now lost to me), I'm not to bothered about accuracy, because I know that when it comes to statistically normal rolls, the laws of physics just don't apply to mine
