Kickstarter thread - all Kickstarters go here!

OK, this has to happen sooner or later, so let's get on with it. All Kickstarter announcements and related stuff go in this thread.

*I'll put an OP of what exactly is Kickstarter and why should we care here... when I get around to it*

edit: Kickstarter rules:
1. Posts containing mainly link/pictures of a particular Kickstarter or update to it are limited to 1 per user per thread page.
2. Posts containing actual discussion are exempt from the above limit.
3. Alternative accounts made specifically to bypass rule #1 will be banned without warning along with the main account (for spamming).
4. These rules apply to all Kickstarters, even those posted elsewhere in the forum.

Sorry for these rules, but it seems they are needed :(

Still think that Warmills stuff coming out is better, but since this is all about sharing information in this forum...

Beyond the Gates of Anteres is a KS started by Rick Priestley (formerly of GW, but without the attitude) for hard sci-fi 28mm small to medium miniature battles. There's talk of there being roleplaying, epic sized battles etc etc but for now this is just for the 28mm wargame. It has alot of similarities to Infinity, which first drew my attention, yet is still somewhat different in flavor.

It's a decent looking project as far as kickstarters go, the Hansa is a beautiful model and the rest of the series is most likely going to be as high quality. The models are seriously cheap from what I worked out so I'm happy even if the game dosn't work out because I'll have a large amount of cool looking minis that I can proxie in other games for extremely cheap prices. That said, Rick certainly knows his audience and his stuff so it should be a great game regardless. Deffinately worth checking out, and the 1quid pledge (you can un-pledge at any time before the last second) to help evolve the game with your opinions is an awesome idea. And the nice part is, they acctually listen.

Looks very good, only thing I am not sure about are buttock armour plates...

Yeah that was my comment on the forums when he first made them... they looked like a butt bra. He modified the shape some, and the general concensus is that they're not infact armor per-say, but part of his projected shielding suit. I'm just going to be happy to paint all that detail, especially on his back.

Godslayer - fantasy/mythology/historical based skirmish game.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/194 ... of-legends

It looks like its already on sale generally and they are using the KS to be able to translate the game and ramp up the production of the lines they already have. Its a good way of getting a deal on some of the starterboxes & rulebook combo, and I really like the look and sound of it. Great artwork as well!

Don't really play that much fantasy based stuff nowadays, after giving up with 8th edition and Mordheim only being a few select people. Looks like this is going to fill that gap very nicely!

As much as I like Warmill's stuff, I think think this look better, especially the differing room sizes.

Godslayer - Rise of Legends has had my eye for a few months now, I might have to kickstart it to help with the translation and actually get stuff now!

It's worth it for the discounts on the already available models and books. Funding is coming in at a steady rate, so hopefully we'll be able to bust a few of the stretch goals.

So, they're finally making a kickstarter? Been following it for some time, WZ has quite a bit of fan following in Poland (about half of which is saying "meh, if it doensn't work out we'll just buy the pretty minis and continue playing the fan edition), regular tournaments and stuff. Not sure about the new art design, back in the old days the art was one of the biggest draws in WZ. Some look like the Mutant Chronicles movie, which is a good thing. The Brotherhood still looks silly, but I guess it's their gimmick  I'll wait and see, but I may get a starter before the end if it looks good.

Looks less steampunk than the movie. Hopefully we won't be seeing those silly WWI tin hats on the yanks. Although I saw a guy playing 40K IG with Warzone figs the other night. This could be a very good thing.

Programmers and non-programmers - Open Source LiveCode KS

I know, I know, there's already a Kickstarter thread but this one's got nothing to do with wargaming, apart from assorted bits of wargaming software I produce with it, and my entire eBay and webstore workflow running off LiveCode-produced applications...

LiveCode is a programming environment and language based on English syntax, making it very accessible to non-programmers and due to it's flexibility it's also very fast to develop for programmers. RunRev, the company behind it, are running a Kickstarter campaign to turn the entire runtime engine into an open source project, meaning that anyone will be able to use it for non-commercial use.

They're only four days from the end with a good way to go with the funding, I've put in £600 but can't afford any more at the moment. :(

As there are a bunch of techy types here I thought I'd spread the word...

A programming language based on English syntax? There is absolutely no way it can go wrong :v: I'll be watching it for that reason alone.
Still, more open source is more open source :)

And yes, there is already a KS thread. I'll move it there in a while.

ed: KS over, moved to the general KS thread.

It's been around for more than fifteen years, and is basically a modern descendant of HyperCard, so the pedigree is pretty good. :)

So would this allow a coding nitwit like me to, say, build a website?

No, for the web you can write server-side code but you'd still need to know how HTML etc. work.

I mostly use it for desktop apps like the recent unit designer for Gruntz:

Plus a whole bunch of workflow automation stuff.

Woo, 34 hours to go and they hit the target and a stretch goal that was added this afternoon!

this is may be intresting

Apparently Wasteland 2 wasn't enough and there's tendency to make spiritual successors of awesome games:

Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues - a new Ultima game in all but name, made by a very real Richard Garriott!

Torment: Tides of Numenera - a new game in the vein of the old Planescape: Torment.

Anyone going for the Empire of the Dead? I'm probably just having a rulebook and will pick up stuff once its on general release.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/832 ... -requiem-0

It's been hovering around £60,000 for a while now so I guess other KS projects are starting to drain the cash away from the steady increase it previously had.

I'm in for it. Pledged on the first day. My little gaming group bought 2 rule books and all the box sets when it first came out last year. Empire of the Dead is my second game. Have you played it yet?

Nope not yet. I'm thinking about pledging low and just getting the PDF and a selection of minis using the requiem 10 upgrade.

Gothic Horror has a strong pull on me for many things, I'm just choosing to ignore the steampunk side of it.

The PDF is really a second edition now that it will have 3 new factions and vehicle rules. The steampunky bits help balance the Gentlemen faction against the Vampires & Werewolves.

That why I chose to avoid buying the main rulebook as it'll be out of date as soon as the PDF goes out.

Yes please read the updated rules. They are our new effort to keep kickstarter gorilla marketing campaigns and aggressive advocating under control.
