Anyone else playing/loving Destiny? If you're on Xbone, you can find me as MANalaus.

Is it as awesome as the trailers? Cause that looked like a movie in its own right!

I'm having a lot of fun so far. Sort of a far less quirky borderlands that plays a lot like halo, though that's hardly a surprise. You can max level in about eight hours and get access to the higher level missions, then it's mostly gear grind. Only it doesn't feel like a grind to me cause I like just doing missions and stuff with people. Story isn't as prevalent as the live action trailer leads you to believe, but it's okay. I'd give it a 8/10. Special mention; soundtrack has some real great tunes in it.

So is this game all it's cracked up to be?

It's been some really good fps fun so far.

It's a good time, especially if you're playing with friends. It's a bit lighter on story than I'd like. Not because Bungie hasn't thought about the world, but because the story feels a bit shoehorned in. Hopefully as DLC drops they'll pull back the curtain more.

Totally agree. Gunplay's decent, weapons feel like they have heft, enemies have at least half a brain, etc. In all honesty, I'm comparing it to the Halo series, and I have an irrational fanboy love affair with all things Halo, so there's that. Nevertheless, it's good fun.

A good comparison would be to the Borderlands series. Borderlands made up for being story-light by having a great sense of humor, whereas Destiny tries to be serious. I do like the fact that I'm not just chucking guns away like they're falling out of trees (like they do in Borderlands). I definitely feel like stashing guns for other characters, especially the rare ones after I've spent time leveling them up.

I'm not sure the game itself is worth $60 USD, but the experience of playing with friends and yelling obscenities at the screen is totally worth that.

So, anyone still playing? :P

Lvl 28 Titan, doing the raid tomorrow(synching schedules with coworkers is a lot of work).

Got it earlier this week for PS3. Lv25 Warlock: TrueGraves

It's an okay game. Though maybe a bit overhyped. As is, I'd say it's better as a rental than a buy.

The forgettable story, repetitive missions, and unreliable loot system still leave a lot of room for improvement.

But I think the basic 'run and shoot' mechanics and setting/environments are pretty good. Looking forward to seeing what the expansions and future patches bring. Meanwhile, thank Vishnu for loot caves.

After this, I may have to go back and pick up Defiance again.

They're supposed to buff loot(guaranteed legendaries for Tiger, Weekly, and Nightfall Strikes I think) and make the Cryptarch decode engrams of their value or HIGHER on Tuesday update, so there is that.

That will be wonderful!

I've never had anything upgrade in quality, but I've been peeved that, of about 6-7 I've come across, the only purple I've found which has stuck so far was a chest piece after I had just gotten that Queen's chest piece from the weekly and so dismantled it. (btw, <3 @Legendary Engram)

Happy I finally came across my first OJ bounty to turn in the other day though. The mourning gun?

I'm still playing, but not too frequently as I'm a very hobby-filled person. Infinity, RPGs, MMORPGs, Destiny, Fighting Games, Gunpla, Books... I don't know how I manage to find time!

Super Good Advice, the easiest bounty; one of the only two I'm willing to do. Its a machine gun, not too shabby.

Welp, now I've got a lvl 28 Titan(Maxed both classes), Lvl 26 Sunlock, and a Lvl 25 Bladedancer, thanks be to Welfare Armor. Still, even with all these engrams, doing all this rehashed content is getting a little stale. If it weren't for my friends to play with, I'd be done(till the expansion, their last chance); we've started doing dumb stuff like seeing how many times we can punch Phogoth. Good times.

Completely spaced and finally remembered that rank 3 rep is needed only for the guns so I went ahead and purchased the legendary armor that I needed since I had at least been grinding the hell out of bounties and strikes previously. Now, just to farm for all of the shards needed to upgrade them...

Agreed that the story and strike missions can get stale fast. Many are just a straightforward run to the end with a boss fight which is basically kill adds and dodge its attack until the boss's hp has been whittled down. It can be very frustrating cause I feel there's a lot of wasted potential for narrative and interesting objectives using the game's setting. For instance, I'm surprised that you never get to work with or escort/protect any NPCs during the game.

Well, on the bright side, I'm getting slightly more into the Crucible now after having skipped it entirely before end-game.

I agree that some potential was missed, with regards to boss fights.

It's really just that one enemy is a bit of a damage sink with a dangerous weapon while adds periodically spawn in.

Kill the adds.
Plink the boss.
Repeat.

Though, crucible offers plenty of variance as team compositions constantly shift due to the classes. The weapon variances also help, though it's rare to find someone not wielding an autorifle or pulse rifle in the crucible. Not having to pick up guns from the map gives the multiplayer a better feel to me, as you aren't relying on map control for a particular weapon.
