Ariadna TAG proxy?

by Section9 » August 17th, 2014, 10:35 pm

Was reading The Miniatures Page when I came across someone who'd made the industrial version of the Bauhaus Vulkan battlesuit.

The picture I saw:

Headswap to a USAriadnan head and give it some big guns, instant RM100. Funny enough, the factory-original guns are a heavy machinegun and flamethrower...
“I'm curious, son. When has 'This might be a trap' ever stopped you?”
“Stopped? Never. Slowed me down while I load the guns? Every time.”

Ariadna already have TAG proxies.
Those damn dogs in skirts that can shrug off missile and fire hits.

You get a TAG when you have no big dogs (see: the french) and even then, it will be a relatively slow and obsolete one better used as large HI.

Too many rivets and gears, looks too old. Ariadnian technology is futuretech compared to ours, it's ancient only compared to the other human sphere factions.

What you're looking for is a TAG version of this:

EDIT: So basically something like this: http://www.mechafront.com/15mm.html

They're for 15mm, but they're big in 15mm, 65mm to 110mm in size, so they might actually work nicely.

The image of the RM100 in the manual is like one of those bipeds from Mecha Front, a box on legs. Got a pic to compare:

Ariadna RM-100 TAG

And the Persian link is not working, so copy too:

Wow, quite a good resemblance. I don't have the books yet, wasn't aware there was a such thing, awesome.

Well, the gear is the corporate logo.

I'd dremel those off of an Ariadnan TAG.

I'm aware of the pic from the Core book, but it seems like CB has moved away from that box-on-legs concept. The Vulkan suit looks like it's a militarized version of the Aliens powerloader, which is what I expect the RM100 to be.

Something about that thing doesn't resonate with me. It might be the exposed head or the arms... I dunno, I just can't dig it. Maybe if we covered it in Drills...

Looks rather too steampunk for my taste. I think something like the Anaconda fits fine.

Another one to look at might be Mecha Front by Paulson Games. I've got a couple of them and they're lovely resins. Scale-wise I think they work, standing around 65mm tall.

Those make me want to play BattleTech on that scale, not Infinity. ;)
