It plays a bit like Counter-Strike, with 2 teamsand no respawns during rounds, but it has a lot of interesting things going for it. Instead of earning money to buy weapons, you get to choose weapons at the beginning of each round and your selection varies by your player class and Rank. You increase in rank by gaining XP for killing people, completing objectives etc. Both teams, Jinrai and the NSF, are functionally identical. The same classes and weapons are available to both so its really just cosmetic. The 3 player classes are where it gets a bit Infinityesque so I'll just use Infinity terms to describe them
The Recon is the light class, with lower durability and high mobility. They have the least access to heavy weapons andtend to rely on SMGs but their excellent mobility makes up for it. They basically have Super Jump, as well as unlimited ability to run. They have TO camo too
The Assault is the Medium class, with a good balance of skills and equipment. They can run, but for a limited time, not that I've ever reached the limit. They also have TO camo but only 8 seconds worth. I have to mention the Assault's frag grenade because it's the best I've ever used in an FPS. Most other games I struggle to kill anyone with a frag grenade unless they've already suffered damage or they're standing on it. I don't have that problem in Neotokyo
The Support is the HI of Neotokyo, relatively durable but really slow, you can't run at all! Has access to heavy weapons at lower ranks than the other classes and is the only one who can have the machinegun. The Support has smoke grenades and Thermal vision meaning they effictively get to pull off the smoke + MSV2 combo all by themselves.
The game takes some getting used to, especially with the maps being quite complex. Add in the Recon's manouverability and it'll take a while to learn where you might get shot from and when. Saying that I'm enjoying it quite a bit at the moment and its COMPLETELY FREE. So check it out
