Flight MH17

by Lampyridae » July 18th, 2014, 2:03 pm

For those not following the news, Flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur has been lost with 298 souls. My thoughts go out to the friends, family and colleagues of those on the flight.

Apparently there is an Australian family who lost relatives on this flight AND MH370.

A terrible tragedy.

I feel sorry for Malaysian airlines, as well. While MH370's incident might have been their fault, I don't see any way this most recent incident could be. Their reputation is going to severely plummet.

this whole crash is smelly
to much pices not fitting in ...
Malaysian airlines - they lost first flight in unknows and now they flay over the war zone and something hapends - strange (first time is actident but 2 times are suspicious, third is a treazon ) or insurance fraud ?
Why they flay over war zone when 90% of flights avoid this area from 2 months already ?
- Buk missle system is not one person use you need a team to operate it and a 1 year of training to not kill yourselve
thous misless are made by Russia and sold all around - so actualy it could be any one shooting with them - all of 3 sides of border conflict and forth side (unknown)
Who benefits from it :
Guerrera - nah they will get butt raped for that and blamed for it even before any one check whats going on
Russia - this will not help Russia nor it will put a wrench in its plans and games - maybe a "peace keeping" forces will be dispached to the area but they could do this any way and missles is Russian production - not good in PR
Ukraine - well Rebels get blamed and a border conflict just became international one and high probability of internacional forces disspached to Ukraine - don't like to say this but this side got a huge profit from it and it was Ukraine control who send Malesian over the War zone ... smelly
Israel - whole catastrophy act as perfect Smoke screan for invasion ... but i don't know if they need that beside it would require a lot of effort

to remind Firing from somebody terrytory don't mean thats it was fired by this terrytory forces
Rebels decide to give black boxes to MAK but MAK decide - fook off it will be internacionale investigation ?

so much things don't tie im a bit confuzed

It looks like the Russian-backed rebels shot the plane down. Probably by accident, but it doesn't look like they're shedding any tears over it, because they're a bunch of assholes. They tried to lie about having a buk in the first place - despite tweeting about it in June - and a radio communication was intercepted.

Conspiracy? I don't think so. We don't need a conspiracy to explain this. Stupidity, negligence, and low malice explain it just fine.

i wish it would be this, but like i wrote above something smells there and if this was just an accident, there is way more ppl to blame for it nor just "bad rebels"

I wish the world spent more time grieving tragedies than assigning blame; it seems far too early to know anything for sure. It could have been either side, but everyone weighing in with 'prelims' have something to gain politically from demonizing one side or the other, as of the last articles I read.

Nothing can be done to get the dead back, but I hope it doesn't become a casus belli, irrespective of if that was the purpose or it was an accident. We are fucking the world enough already, no need of stomping the accelerator nor celebrate a 100th aniversary with a repeat.

I wonder how my country and our allies are going to respond.
193 of the 298 passengers were Dutch, and it seems the rebels are getting funky with allowing anyone access to the crash site.

Those AIDS researchers/activists dying is a huge blow to the world as well. Such a waste.

Russia's been pushing for a while now, so I'm really curious as to what's going to happen. And why wouldn't they push? The US keeps getting away with Human rights abuses left and right, why shouldn't they screw over whoever they want? The ICC is powerless apparently. And Israel.. well. I have my suspicions about that clusterfuck.

The world is heating up, and I so wish I was talking about the heatwave currently in progress here..

It seems odd to say the world's heating up; in a lot of places, it's never cooled down. I think I'm just getting numb and jaded at this point, but the world doesn't seem any worse than before; it just pays more attention when Europeans/Americans are harmed. No one talks about any of the horrors going on in Africa, or bothers about the death toll in the Middle East(unless Israel is involved).

Again, I'm not downplaying the tragedy of flight MH17; it just seems to me that the world always has something terrible happening, but it takes moments like this for people to notice.

...

I'm not normally a dour guy, I guess its just that kind of day.

Oh, there are a lot of issues globally, I know. Wars, famine, droughts, the environment, the problems so many women around the world face each day.. plus whatever else I haven't mentioned. There's a lot still to be fixed when it comes to Human existence on this planet, and I'm so idealistic I can't bring myself to ever stop caring about any of this, every issue matters to me deeply. It's just that a potential WWIII seems to be brewing and with modern weapons of mass destruction that is a very worrying thought.

TL;DR: things are still bad in general, nukes would be worse..

(Speaking of the middle east, Tunesia's new constitution guarantees equality for men and women. There's always progress..)

I get what you're saying, Mistake Not, and kudos on managing that level of empathy; the world needs people to be like that, just as much as it needs people who can distance themselves.

As for World War III... well, I just don't see it, in the current era. If such a thing were to happen, I don't see it being a conflict of 'great' battles or WMDs; at least, not without a much more drastic trigger than some douchebag rebels shooting down a plane. The way the international community is nowadays, and most public opinion, the worst I can see is an Incident between some small forces that starts a panic about World War, then an emergency session of the security council or the like to put an end to it.

I dunno, it helps me sleep at night; I could be terribly misinformed or might be misreading the world. Don't take me for an expert or anything, just how I've interpreted it all.

:ohdear:

Investigators are still trying to get to the site, days after they'd planned to arrive.
Evidence has likely been disrupted or just tampered with. There's still fighting too.
At least the trains with the bodies should be moved to non-conflict areas today. Hopefully.

Also the security council has Russia on it. Russia's been pushing this whole mess along, so I don't feel comforted at all..

I really hope the situation de-escalates soon, Russia's been warned not to block any resolutions.. yet they seem to be planning to.
Please be smart, world. Get it together, it's about time for some peace.

Someone enlighten me how Israel fits into this? o.O

Please don't. The planet's idea of peace is very different from humans', and given what humans are doing she's got all the right to be increasingly pissed off.

There were 198 Dutch passengers aboard the airplane. Today, July 23rd, is a day of national mourning here.

It's unbelievable how many people were just ripped from the lives of their loved ones. :(
