A difficult choice

Hi chaps,

Bit of an odd topic to be honest, I'm new to the board but considering offloading my Infinity stuff

Basically, I got into Infinity about 2 years ago - love the minis, the rules and the fiction. However, I've had very little experience of actually playing the game. While I don't own even so much, my enthusiasm has unfortunately dwindled as the best place to play is on the opposite end of my town - and there is a lovely club not far that plays other games, some of which I've started.

I'm a bit at odds about getting rid of my stuff, I don't want to get rid of it just to have to restart but at the same time considering my schedule and what's played at the club it doesn't look likely I'll be playing Infinity any time soon - unfortunately as it's great

I have the following:
all 3 rule books
Ariadna starter
FRRM starter
Mirage 5
2 Tankhunters
Cameronian
1 SAS
1 scout sniper
Go-Go Marlene (BNIB)
Everything is painted to a good table top level except the Cameronian and 3 of FRRM minis - the para, moblot and zouave)

Worthwhile trying to sell? Interested to see what every one thinks

Cheers,
sR

Moved it to Trades. It's certainly not an introduction. :)

I would hang on to it. How about getting Infinity going at the club near you?

Cheers Arachas, wasn't too sure where to post.

I think I may hang on. The issue with my club is that they are big on GW games and lots of historicals - Flames of War, Fields of Glory, DBBM, etc. I myself am busy with FoW and some Napoleonics, but I'd still love to play Infinity. We have a mailing list where I've tried to drum up interest, but with no takers unfortunately. I'm also not regular enough to run demos and not really in a position financially to start a second army.

I'll keep stuff for now I think and see what the future brings. If the lads are looking for something new I might be in luck

If anything, Infinity offers something vastly different from all those other games you've named. I personally think FoW is a major headache when it comes to all the different rules (not to mention the huge 40k-factor). Haven't played the other games, but are all larger in scale than Infinity. And very different in scope: they are historical, against Infinity's futuristic setting.

In other words: in order to 'market' Infinity amongst your gaming brethren, simply point out what it's got to offer in contrast with the other games: simple and elegant rules, fast gameplay, skirmish-sized and futuristic setting. Not to mention the insanely pretty models.

I've got a friend who's die-hard into historicals. But now all my friends have picked up Infinity, I think it's only a matter of time before he caves in and buys either Hassassins or Knightly Orders (can you see the link to historical gaming?). You just need to convince one or two to try it out and get some models and the rest will follow.

If you're located in Europe I'd be interested in Marlene and Campaign: Paradiso.

FoW is definitely a convoluted ruleset, but I found it gets easier after a few games.

There are guys in the club who have been considering a new WW2 skirmish game - I might just have to try to edge them towards Infinity instead!

Heck, have them proxy some sweet 28mm Germans as Ariadna. ;)
