BPLaser - Take Cover!

by valthonis » May 5th, 2013, 6:46 pm

Part three of the Valthonis Terrain Saga! Revenge of the MDF.

This was the third vendor I ordered some terrain from on Thursday April 18th, arriving from the land down under to my US door on the 3rd of May.

I will start off saying Paul is a fantastic person to work with. He was always willing and never got frustrated with my constant questioning prior to placing my order.
I don't have any package pictures like the rest of my reviews, mostly because I was too eager and didn't think about it until I had discard the box and was half way through assembly.

Complete Order:
-1x Large Vending Machines
-1x Small Vending Machines
-4x Small Containers (5 per pack)
-1x Cashier's Desk
-3x Cooling Tower (3 per pack)
-2x Fan Coil (3 per pack)
-2x Solar Panels (2 per pack)
-3x Refuse Receptacle (2 per pack)
-2x Heavy Transport Vehicle

However, on the plus side I have at least one of everything assembled and photos!

First off, a recent addition to his store, Billboard Pack 01. Comes with one large, two medium, and two small signs. Very simple build, but very effective for LoF blocking.

Next we have the Small Containers. These come in a pack of five and like all small containers provide excellent scatter terrain. There was an error with my shipment, I had ordered four sets of these but only received one. I notified Paul and he apologized and is sending out the missing items. Anyway, I love these little things.

Next up, the Cashier's Desk. Didn't have any plans for it specifically, but it looked cool and I might have to pick up a second one! I love the curve/bent MDF section.
Image

Next we have the Refuse Receptacle. Love these little garbage bins. They even come with a brass? rod to fit through the back so they can open and close. Sadly a 25mm round base will not fit inside, but still make for excellent scatter terrain.

Next is the roof top scatter terrain. Cooling Tower, Fan Coil, and Solar Panel. The Solar Panel comes with a black hex patterned solar piece, I didn't peal the paper off yet.

Small Vending Machines! Not much to say here, surprising amount of detail, though I may have to put a Coca Cola logo on the empty-ish one on the left.
Image

Large Vending Machines! Scatter terrain to take cover is nice, but some times total cover is better. I did have some quality control issues on these two. The top piece seemed to be cut a little offset so no matter which way I turned it I either had a gap from the longer side pushing the front out or a gap on the back. I trimmed the piece and used a little wood putty to fill in the gap. Not major, but I did mention it to Paul to help avoid others having the issue. But I would still happily buy these again, certainly adds a little character to the table.

Freebie! Paul included these Police Barricades with my order! Freebies are always awesome to receive! With 10 in the pack, one can't no to more scatter terrain!
Image

Finally, my personal favorite of all the items, the Heavy Transport Vehicle. It comes with wooden rods for the axles, but I just glued the wheels in place as I didn't want it to roll away on me. But as you can tell it has a lot of fun potential.

So overall I would highly recommend BPLaser. Paul runs a fantastic shop and very dedicated to his customers. Obviously there was a little more spent on shipping (Australia versus USA), but I would say that was worth it. Just as a note, if you've built any MAS, Warsenal, or Sarissa products, you will need more glue than you've been used to. Not a bad thing, just FYI. :)

First I need an airbrush, hoping for father's day but we'll have to see. :)

Great! How was the assembly of the truck? Easy or hard?
