Hi guys!

Maybe you saw my terrain thread with few renders of things to come, but now the things are getting serious. Initial products range of Don't Panic Wargaming will be a set of Angkor/Khmer-style inspired walls. It contains simple straight wall and four types of corner pieces: end, straight, T-junction and corner. I also created a simple joint-system to help you keep the bits together while they are on the table, but allows players to easily take them apart for transport and storage.

Today I have few renders for you, to keep you tuned for an Indiegogo campaign that will be coming soon:




You can find more pictures on FaceBook. The website is under development right now, I will let you know once it´s operational via Facebook and here as well.

looks good, but have you looked into doing a simpler joint system? a long tab on the wall and a slot on the column might make things less prone to breakage instead of those rods.

@daviddasilva: The initial idea was to only have a bit thicker tab instead of rods but then you would have to glue them at least to one of the walls/corners and that was what I was trying to avoid. This system was not playtested yet, so after that it might become even easier and more simple to use. If not, at least the rods might become much shorter (at least by half) to avoid breakage. Thanks for input, David

Shorter rods will work. will wait to see what you come up next =)

hey folks, I have something new for you. I am working on masters, hopefuly I will be able to make first molds by the end of next week. While I am still waiting for the equipment, here are few photos of almost finished corner-piece minus detailing and the roof part. Wall and small gate are on the way

You know, it's a bit more work than the simple pins (ensuring polarity is critical), but wouldn't this be a great candidate for magnetized joints?

I was thinking about magnets, it is not that difficult if you pay attention to polarity as you said, but it would lose a bit from it´s modularity. I think it would also be quite confusing while choosing which type of corner-piece you need, especially when it comes to t-junctions and crosses. My aim is to keep assembly as easy as it can be, with pins you don´t have to worry which side is which, you just stick it in and plug it into another piece.

Edit: that last sentence just sounded plain wrong

well you can always make a version with out pins, put a label "magnet ready" on it and call it a special edition =)

Instead of a square peg on the long pins, why not make it a 3mm diameter and 2.5-3mm tall cylinder (ie, the thickness of two 3mm rare earth magnets)? You'd have a perfect spot for a magnet between the two sections!

No problem! I'm all in favor of 'easy to make'.

make sure if you are going to ship magnets to read up on the rules for shipping them, They are not a big deal but after a certain amount of magnets you have to make sure they are packaged tight and as far away from the walls of the box as possible to avoid affecting their shipping equipment and scanners.

Again is not a big deal just be mindful and try to put them as near to the center of the package as you can and you should be fine.

You should totally document your casting progress. Not only does it make for easy reference the second time: it's great stuff for your blog, as well!

I intend to, I am actually planning a series, documenting everything from tools and equipment to the final product

@kidterminal: I am thinking about it, I´ll definitely try to make them videos and include them in article. if not, just an article

@mob: I am using modified water filter as a pressure pot, a friend of mine is using this setup for years. if it goes well, there will be original pressure pot in near future

First time I hear about a water filter used that way.
